| 1 | Workstation (Intel® or compatible) for IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator Studio. This workstation must have connectivity to the zEnterprise system. For the hardware and software requirements of this workstation, see: IBM Data Studio Version 3.1 system requirements | Depends on manufacturer |
Networking
For the data network between the IBM zEnterprise System and the PureData System for Analytics or Netezza 1000 appliance, a dedicated physical network connection is required.Minimum network configuration
The minimum network configuration is only supported for Test and Development scenarios without any high availability requirements. This configuration should not be used in a production environment. The minimum network configuration requires the following components:| Quantity | Product | Location | P/N |
| 1 | OSA-Express3 10 GbE (dual port) | IBM zEnterprise System | (*) |
| or | |||
| 1 | OSA-Express4S 10 GbE (single port) | IBM zEnterprise System | (*) |
| and | |||
| 1 | 10 GbE SFP+ Switch (e.g. IBM RackSwitch G8264 IBM RackSwitch G8124E) |
Network | (**) |
| 3 | Optical Fiber Cables | Network | |
| (*) | IBM/BNT® 10Gb SFP+ Optical Transceiver | Switch | (*) |
Recommended network configuration
The following components are required for a fully redundant (high availability) network between the IBM zEnterprise System and the the PureData System for Analytics or Netezza 1000 appliance:| Quantity | Product | Location | P/N |
| 2 | OSA-Express 10 GbE | IBM zEnterprise System | (*) |
| 8 | Optical Fiber Cables | Network | |
| 2 | 10 GbE SFP+ Switch (e.g. IBM RackSwitch G8264 IBM RackSwitch G8124E) |
Network | (**) |
| (*) | IBM/BNT® 10Gb SFP+ Optical Transceiver | Switch | (*) |
(**) For details about why a direct network connection does not provide automatic fail-over and hence at least one switch is needed, see the following technote
Software Requirements
See the following sections for information about the software that is required to run IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS.Operating systems

Database management software
Use one of the supported database management systems on your System z server as indicated in the following table. Make sure that required program temporary fixes (PTFs) and features are installed. Optional features are marked as such.To assist you in determining if you have the recommended service for IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS, V3.1 installed on your system, you can use the SMP/E REPORT MISSINGFIX command in conjunction with FIXCAT HOLDDATA as follows:
- Acquire and RECEIVE the latest HOLDDATA file onto your z/OS system. Use your normal service acquisition portal or download the two (2) year HOLDDATA file directly from http://service.software.ibm.com/holdata/390holddata.html. Ensure you select Full from the Download NOW column (last 730 days) to receive the FIXCAT HOLDDATA, as the other files do not contain FIXCAT HOLDDATA.
- Run the SMP/E REPORT MISSINGFIX command on your z/OS systems and specify Fix Category (FIXCAT) IBM.DB2.AnalyticsAccelerator.V3R1. The report will identify any missing PTFs associated with that category on that system. For complete information about the SMP/E REPORT MISSINGFIX command, see SMP/E Commands (http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/GIMCOM50/CCONTENTS?SHELF=gim2bk90&DN=SA22-7771-15&DT=20110523141208).
- Periodically you should acquire the latest HOLDDATA file and rerun the REPORT MISSINGFIX command to determine if there are any new recommended PTFs for IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS, V3.1.
