=====================================================================
1. ABOUT THIS RELEASE
=====================================================================

Sterling B2B Integrator, Version 5.2.1 is available. For detailed information about this release, including enhancements and known issues, see the following sections.

=====================================================================
2. WHAT'S NEW
=====================================================================

The enhancements and known issues described in this document apply to Sterling B2B Integrator Version 5, Release 2, Modification 1 (Version 5.2.1).

Sterling B2B Integrator, Version 5.2.1 contains the following enhancements:

Sterling Standards Library Enhancement to Support SWIFTNet 7.0
This release includes a new SWIFTNet7 Adapter to support SWIFTNet version 7.0. The SWIFTNet Server Adapter only supports the SWIFTNet version 6.1 features and does not support the new SWIFTNet 7.0 features. The new SWIFTNet7 Adapter, along with its corresponding services and business processes, must be configured separately. It does not work with the existing set of SWIFTNet 6.1 business processes.

Enhancement to Support SAP JCo 3.x
The SAP Suite Adapter for JCo 3.x is based on the SAP Java Connector (JCo) 3.x library. The SAP Suite adapter for JCo 3.x offers the following features:
  • Allows integration with an SAP system through the following interfaces:
    • Asynchronous ALE and file based IDoc and RFC
    • Synchronous sRFC and BAP
  • Supports status messages for translation success and failure for ALE and file based IDocs.
  • Is backward compatible with the existing SAP Suite Adapter for JCo 2.x at a business process level.
  • Allows running the little-a part of the SAP Suite Adapter for JCo 3.x in an external JVM using the general External JVM feature of Sterling Integrator.

Remember: SAP JCo 3.x is not compatible with earlier versions of the SAP JCo 2.x libraries. The SAP Suite adapter for JCo 2.x will not function correctly if configured with the JCo 3.x libraries. However, if both the SAP Suite adapter for JCo 2.x and the SAP Suite adapter for JCo 3.x are configured correctly with the appropriate JCo library versions, then they can exist on the same system and will function correctly.

The External JVM feature provided by SAP Suite 2.x is not supported for the SAP Suite adapter for JCo 3.x. Instead, you should run the little-a part of the SAP Suite Adapter for JCo 3.x in an external JVM (a general feature of the adapter container node). However, the External JVM feature continues to be supported for the SAP Suite adapter for JCo 2.x.

The SapTidCleaner Service is a supplementary service for the SAP Suite Adapter for JCo 3.x. The SapTidCleaner Service removes the old TID entries from the SAP TID table for all adapter instances. This service is automatically invoked by a scheduled business process, Schedule_SAPTidCleaner. You must ensure that both the predefined service instances, Schedule_SAPTidCleaner and SapTidCleanerInstance, are enabled.

Enhancement to Document Encryption
The supported values for the symmetric algorithm for encrypting documents now just include the default value of AES. This helps ensure that documents are being securely encrypted. Also, the property for setting this value (ENC_ALG) has been moved from the security.properties.in file to the security.properties_platform_security_ext.in file.

=====================================================================
3. DISK SPACE REQUIREMENTS AND SYSTEMS REQUIREMENTS
=====================================================================
For information about disk space requirements and hardware and software compatibility, see the System Requirements document under the Getting Started topic in the Sterling B2B Integrator 5.2 Eclipse Info Center.

=====================================================================
4. PREINSTALLATION RECOMMENDATIONS
=====================================================================
  • You must perform a complete backup of the Sterling B2B Integrator file system and database before applying any feature pack. It is not possible to uninstall a feature pack.
  • The E-invoicing features available with Sterling Integrator Release 5.0, Build 5007 or later are not yet available in the Sterling B2B Integrator, Release 5.2.1. These enhancements will be available in a future release. Therefore, if you are using Sterling e-Invoicing with Sterling Integrator Release 5.0, Build 5007 or later, do not upgrade to Sterling B2B Integrator, Release 5.2.1. If you do, the e-Invoicing archive database upgrade will fail. If you are using Sterling e-Invoicing with Sterling Integrator Release 5.0, Build 5007 or later, you must wait to upgrade your installation with Sterling B2B Integrator, Release 5.2.2, which will allow you to successfully upgrade your e-Invoicing archive database tables and you can continue to use the e-Invoicing enhancements introduced originally in Sterling Integrator Release 5.0, Build 5007.

=====================================================================
5. UPGRADING TO IBM STERLING B2B INTEGRATOR 5.2.1
=====================================================================

Sterling Integrator customers who want to upgrade to Sterling B2B Integrator, Release 5.2.1 can use the migration method (import/export) or the traditional, in-place upgrade method.

You should be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of these different upgrade methods before deciding which method is best for your business:

In-place upgrade moves your transactional data and run-time assets to the new version.

Migration upgrade (import/export) moves only your run-time assets to the new installation. If you have never used the migration upgrade method and need assistance creating and executing a plan based on this methodology, contact your IBM Sales Account Representative or IBM Professional Services.

The following in-place upgrade guides are provided for this release:
  • UNIX/Linux Non-Cluster Environment Upgrade Guide
  • UNIX/Linux Cluster Environment Upgrade Guide
  • Windows Non-Cluster Environment Upgrade Guide
  • Windows Cluster Environment Upgrade Guide
  • iSeries Environment Upgrade Guide

Note: For Sterling B2B Integrator, Release 5.2.0, only the migration upgrade was available.
