Abstract
Periodically or as necessary, fix packs will be published for IBM Worklight V5.0. Instructions are provided in this document to guide the installation process. Any restrictions identified in the V5.0 release continue to apply. For example, Mac OS only supports the Worklight Studio installation via Eclipse Update.

Note that when upgrading a Worklight Studio formerly installed with IBM Installation Manager, upgrades to that installation must also be done with IBM Installation Manager. The Eclipse P2 update version for an upgrade installation is not supported in that scenario.
Upgrading an existing version installed with IBM Installation Manager
If IBM Installation Manager was used to install a previous version (from either the IBM website or a local repository), upgrading to the fix pack can be done with the following steps. Note, an Internet connection is necessary.
- Start IBM Installation Manager, which was used to install the existing 5.0 installation
- Click Update
- A list of installable packages will be presented
- Click the packages you wish to update (Worklight for IBM Worklight Server, and IBM Software Delivery Platform for IBM Worklight Studio), or click Update all
- Click Next and follow the instructions to complete the installation
Downloading the Fix Pack Archive from IBM Fix Central
From IBM Fix Central, fix packs are provided in archive (zip) file format for each of the product editions.
- Worklight Studio, as an Eclipse Update (P2)

Follow these instructions to access the fix pack archives.

Installing the Fix Pack Archive with IBM Installation Manager
The instructions that follow apply to both the Worklight Studio and Worklight Server components, but are specific to using the archive file downloaded from IBM Fix Central in the format of an IBM Installation Manager repository. Once the fix pack has been accessed, there are two options based on the state of the base installation. If an existing install is being upgraded to a fix pack, the first set of instructions apply. Otherwise, if there is no base installation, then the second set of instructions apply.
Upgrading an existing 5.0 installation to a Fix Pack
Special Note: If upgrading from a Worklight Server version prior to 5.0.0.3, it is optimal to first uninstall and then use the instructions to do the installation with 5.0 and the fix pack concurrently. This will enable several installation features only present in 5.0.0.3 and later releases which handle automatic installation into existing application servers and databases.
- Unzip the fix pack archive into a temporary_directory
- Start IBM Installation Manager, which was used to install the existing 5.0 installation
- Open the File menu and click Preferences
- Click Add Repository
- For Worklight Server: temporary_directory/500X/update/repository/repository.config
where 500X represents the fix back being installed (5001, 5002, etc) - For Worklight Studio: temporary_directory/edition_identifier/disk1/diskTag.inf
where edition_identified is one of IWSMFEE, IWSMFCE, IWSWEE or IWSWCE representing the name of the product edition
- For Worklight Server: temporary_directory/500X/update/repository/repository.config
- Click OK in the Add Repository window
- Make sure the added repository is selected
- Click OK in the Preferences window
- Click Update and follow the steps presented to complete the installation
Installing 5.0 and a Fix Pack concurrently
- Unzip the fix pack archive into a temporary_directory
- If you don't have IBM Installation Manager 1.5.2 or later, perform the additional installation steps:
- Download and unzip the archive file of the IBM Rational Enterprise Deployment
- Install IBM Installation Manager from the archive
- Start IBM Installation Manager
- Open the File menu and click Preferences
- Click Add Repository
- Enter the location of the 5.0 repository
- Click OK in the Add Repository window
- A second time, click Add Repository
- Enter the location of the fix pack repository configuration:
- For Worklight Server: temporary_directory/500X/update/repository/repository.config.
where 500X represents the fix back being installed (5001, 5002, etc) - For Worklight Studio: temporary_directory/edition_identifier/disk1/diskTag.inf
where edition_identified is one of IWSMFEE, IWSMFCE, IWSWEE or IWSWCE representing the name of the product edition
- For Worklight Server: temporary_directory/500X/update/repository/repository.config.
- Click OK in the Add Repository window
- Make sure the added repositories are selected
- Click OK in the Preferences window
- Click Install and follow the steps presented to complete the installation
Installing the Fix Pack Archive as an Eclipse Update
The instructions that follow apply to the Worklight Studio component only, specific to using the archive file downloaded from IBM Fix Central in the format of an Eclipse Update (P2) site. Once the fix pack has been accessed, there are two options based on the state of the base installation. The fix pack can be installed directly into an Eclipse workspace without any existing version of the product installed. Alternatively, the fix pack can be applied as an update to an existing installation.
- Start the Eclipse workbench
- Open the Window menu and click Preferences
- In the left panel, click Install/Update which will expand options below it
- Click Available Software Sites
- Click Add...
- In the Add Site window enter a value in the Name field such as "IBM Worklight Update"
- Click Archive..., navigate to the fix pack archive and click Open
- Back in the Add Repository window, the Location field should now be filled in
- Click OK to exit the Preferences window
- Open the Help menu and click Check for Updates
- In the Available Updates window, select the items you'd like to install or update
- Click Next and follow the instructions to complete the installation
