* Version 1.5.2 or later is required to install V5.0. Version 1.6.3 or later is required to install V6.0 and V6.1 on Microsoft Windows; Version 1.5.2 or later is required to install V6.0 and V6.1 on UNIX-based and Linux operating systems.
** Installation is not supported on Mac OS.

There are two unique paths for fix pack installation. The first path leverages a fix pack archive that you can download from IBM Fix Central. This path is ideal if there is value for being able to have the fix pack on a local drive and it is easily portable. In addition, after you download the fix pack archive, the remaining installation process is faster because the installation process does not involve the download process. The second path does not leverage any local archive and causes the installation process to download the fix pack contents over the web during the installation process. Choose the path that best suits your needs.

The IBM Installation Manager repositories for the fix pack require that the repository for the base version (two digit version number, for example 6.1), to which the fix pack applies, is available. Verify that IBM Installation Manager points to the repository of that version. For example, for V6.1.0 Fix Pack 1 (6.1.0.1), you need to have the repository for 6.1.0 Fix Pack 1 as well as the repository for the 6.1 installation.

Instructions using the Web

Download the fix pack archive

From IBM Fix Central, fix packs are provided in archive (.zip) file format for each of the product editions.
  • Worklight Studio, as an Eclipse Update (P2)
  • Worklight Studio, as an IBM Installation Manager repository
  • Worklight Server, as an IBM Installation Manager repository

Follow these instructions to access the fix pack archives:

  1. Visit the IBM Fix Central web site

  2. Under Product Group, click Other Software.

  3. Under Select from Other Software, click one of the following product editions:
  4. Under Installed Version, click the version that you already have installed.

  5. Under Platform, click the target platform for the installation.

  6. Click Continue to enter the Identify fixes page.

  7. Click Browse for fixes.

  8. Click Continue to enter the Select fixes page.

  9. Click Show contained fixes to see the fixes included in the fix group.

  10. Select the group fix to download all of the fixes or only the fixes that you want.

  11. Click Continue and follow the instructions to complete the download.

Install the fix pack archive on an existing base version

Note: If you are upgrading from a Worklight Server version prior to V5.0.0 Fix Pack 3, it is optimal to first uninstall and then use the instructions to do the installation with V5.0 and the fix pack concurrently. This process enables several installation features that are only present in V5.0.0 Fix Pack 3 and later releases. These features handle automatic installation into existing application servers and databases.

Note: When you upgrade Worklight Server, there are several preparation steps to perform and several completion steps to perform after the process described here. See the documentation chapter " Upgrading from one version of IBM Worklight to another" for details. The steps here represent only the core upgrade steps.

  1. Download the fix pack archive from IBM Fix Central using the previous instructions.

  2. Extract the fix pack archive into a temporary directory.

  3. Start IBM Installation Manager, which was used to install the existing installation.

  4. Open the File menu and click Preferences.

  5. Ensure that a base repository (5.0, 5.0.5, 5.0.6, 6.0, or 6.1) is among the list of repositories and is enabled.

  6. Click Add Repository.

    • For Worklight Server: temporary_directory/X/update/repository/repository.config
where X represents the fix pack being installed. For example, the value might be 5001, 5002, and so on.
    • For Worklight Studio: temporary_directory/edition_identifier/disk1/diskTag.inf
where edition_identified is IWSMFEE, IWSMFCE, IWSWEE or IWSWCE, which represents the name of the product edition.

  7. Click OK in the Add Repository window.

  8. Make sure that the added repository is selected.

  9. Click OK in the Preferences window.

  10. Click Update and follow the steps to complete the installation. There is one exception. If you upgrade from IBM Worklight Server 5.x to IBM Worklight Server 6.x, you need to click Install and select the package group where Worklight Server is installed.

Install the fix pack archive and base version concurrently

Complete the following instructions if you do not have the base version (such as V5.0, V6.0, or V6.1) installed yet and want to install it with the fix pack at the same time:

  1. Download the fix pack archive from IBM Fix Central using the previously listed instructions.

  2. Extract the fix pack archive into a temporary directory.

  3. If you do not have the proper version of IBM Installation Manager (see Overview), complete the following additional installation steps:
    1. Download and extract the archive file of the IBM Rational Enterprise Deployment.

    2. Install IBM Installation Manager from the archive.

  4. Start IBM Installation Manager.

  5. Open the File menu and click Preferences.

  6. Click Add Repository.

  7. Enter the location of the base 5.0, 6.0, or 6.1 repository.

  8. Click OK in the Add Repository window.

  9. Click Add Repository for a second time.

  10. Enter the location of the fix pack repository configuration:
    1. For Worklight Server: temporary_directory/X/update/repository/repository.config.
where X represents the fix pack that you are installing. For example, the value might be 5001, 5002, and so on.
    2. For Worklight Studio: temporary_directory/edition_identifier/disk1/diskTag.inf
where edition_identified is IWSMFEE, IWSMFCE, IWSWEE or IWSWCE, which represents the name of the product edition.

  11. Click OK in the Add Repository window.

  12. Make sure that the added repositories are selected.

  13. Click OK in the Preferences window.

  14. Click Install and follow the steps to complete the installation

Install the Worklight Studio fix pack archive as an Eclipse Update

The instructions that follow apply to the Worklight Studio component only. In addition, these steps apply when you use the archive file downloaded from IBM Fix Central. The format of the archive file is an Eclipse Update (P2) site. After the fix pack is accessed, there are two options, which are based on the state of the base installation. You can install the fix pack directly into an Eclipse workspace without an existing version of the product installed. Alternatively, you can apply the fix pack as an update to an existing installation.

Note: If you used IBM Installation Manager to install the original version of V5.0, you must use it to apply a fix pack as well. The Eclipse P2 update version for an upgrade installation is not supported in that scenario.

  1. Start the Eclipse workbench.

  2. Open the Window menu and click Preferences.

  3. In the left panel, click Install/Update, which results in additional options.

  4. Click Available Software Sites.

  5. Click Add.

  6. In the Add Site window, enter a value in the Name field such as "IBM Worklight Update."

  7. Click Archive, navigate to the fix pack archive, and click Open. In the Add Repository window, the Location field should now be filled in.

  8. Click OK to exit the Preferences window.

  9. Open the Help menu and click Check for Updates.

  10. In the Available Updates window, select the items that you want to install or update.

  11. Click Next and follow the instructions to complete the installation.

  12. After an upgrade of IBM Worklight Server, verify the configuration on the application server of the following applications: Application Center Console, Application Center Services, Worklight Console.

Install the fix pack over the web

If you used IBM Installation Manager to install a previous version from either the IBM web site or a local repository, you can use the following steps to upgrade to the fix pack version.
