Abstract

This document provides detailed instructions for installing the required fixes for the IBM Business Process Manager V8.0 products and IBM Business Monitor V8.0.

  • IBM Business Process Manager Standard 8.0
  • IBM Business Process Manager Express 8.0
  • IBM Business Process Manager Advanced 8.0
  • IBM Business Process Manager Advanced - Process Server 8.0
  • IBM Business Process Manager Advanced for z/OS 8.0
  • IBM Business Monitor 8.0

Install the interim fixes

Download repositories to local system

If the machine on which you have installed IBM Business Process Manager Express, IBM Business Process Manager Standard, IBM Business Process Manager Advanced, IBM Business Process Manager Advanced - Process Server, or IBM Business Monitor has Internet access, skip the next two steps .
  1. Download the required interim fixes repositories from the Required interim fixes for business process management products download document.

  2. Unpack the repositories to any directories that you choose; unpack each repository to its own directory. Note where you have unpacked the repositories.




Install the interim fixes using the graphical user interface (not available on z/OS)
  1. Start the Installation Manager.


    On Windows operating systems with Internet access, click Start > Programs > IBM > Product_Name > Update. Then, skip to step 3b.


    If you do not have Internet access or are on a Linux or UNIX-based system, you can start IBM Installation Manager using the install_root/IBMIM command on UNIX-based operating systems and the install_root\IBMIM.exe command on Windows operating systems. See Installation directories for the product and profile for more information on where Installation Manager is installed.


    Note: On the Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows 2008 operating systems, right-click install_root\IBMIM.exe and select Run as administrator.

  2. Add repositories to the IBM Installation Manager preferences. Click File > Preferences. Under Repositories select one of the following:
    • If you have Internet access, ensure that the Search service repositories during installation and updates option is selected.

    • If you do not have an Internet connection, add the location of all the local repositories downloaded from the Download repositories to local system section.

      a. Click Add Repository.

      b. Type or browse to the repository.config file for the repository that you have unpacked.

      c. Click OK.

      d. Repeat this process for each interim fix repository.

      e. Click OK to save the new repository settings.

  3. Install the interim fixes.
    • Graphically install the interim fixes.
      1. Click Update.

      2. Select the Package Group where you have installed IBM Business Process Manager Express, IBM Business Process Manager Standard, IBM Business Process Manager Advanced, IBM Business Process Manager Advanced - Process Server, or IBM Business Monitor.

      3. Click Next > to continue.



        After Installation Manager checks the service repositories, the Update Packages window opens.

      4. Ensure that the products with "Only fixes for .." are selected and then click Next >. Another Update Packages window opens. A list of interim fixes is displayed.

      5. Ensure that the recommended interim fixes are all selected. If there are any optional interim fixes that you also want to install you must deselect the Show recommended only option and then select the additional optional interim fixes that you want to install.

      6. Click Next > to continue. The Licenses window opens.

      7. Read and accept the terms of the license agreements by selecting the appropriate button and click Next > to continue. The Features window opens. All of the installed features will be selected.

      8. Click Next > to continue. The Summary window opens. All of the features that need to be updated are shown. The disk space required to perform the update is shown at the bottom.

      9. Click Update to start the update. The updates are downloaded either from the live update repository or from your local repository. The updates are installed. After the installation of the updates is complete, you receive a confirmation.

    • Silently install the interim fixes

      Installation Manager offers a command-line interface to silently update your product installation.

    • Use the appropriate command to update your product with the required fixes:
      <IM_INSTALL_LOCATION>/tools/imcl install <FIX_IDS> -acceptLicense -installationDirectory <INSTALL_DIR> -repositories <REPOSITORY> -log <LOG_FILE>


      Update the following variables in the previous command for your installation:


      The <IM_INSTALL_LOCATION> variable is the location where Installation Manager is installed. See Installation directories for the product and profile for more information on Installation Manager default install directories.

      The <FIX_IDS> variable is the list of fixes to install. Fix IDs are separated by spaces. Use the following table to get the correct fix ids for your product.

      The <INSTALL_DIR> variable is the installation directory of the product.

      The <REPOSITORY> variable is the location of the fix repositories. Use commas to separate multiple locations.

      The <LOG_FILE> variable is the location and name of the silent log file to write.

      By including the -acceptLicense parameter, you agree to the terms and licenses of this product.

      1. After updating the command for your environment, run the command from the tools directory under the Installation Manager installation location.


        The following command is an example for installing all the required interim fixes for IBM Business Process Manager Advanced on Windows:


        C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Installation Manager\eclipse\tools\imcl install 8.0.0.0-WS-WASProd-DistOnly-IFPM63787 8.0.0.3-WS-WAS-IFPM62610 8.0.0.3-WS-WAS-IFPM63124 8.0.0.3-WS-WAS-IFPM64068 8.0.0.3-WS-WASND-IFPM62543 8.0.0.3-WS-WASProd-IFPM61810 8.0.0.3-WS-WASProd-IFPM64145 8.0.0.0-WS-BPM-IFJR42732-acceptLicense -installationDirectory C:\IBM\BPM\v8.0 -repositories C:\BPMFixes,C:\WASFixes -log silent_update.txt

      2. When the silent installation completes, check the log files to ensure that the installation completes successfully. A success message displays on the command line.




Remove the interim fixes


You can remove the interim fixes silently or use the graphical user interface.


  • Silently uninstall an interim fix

    Follow the information center documentation on how to silently uninstall an interim fix.

    The following command is an example of how to uninstall the required fixes:

    imcl uninstall <FIX_IDS> -installationDirectory <INSTALL_DIR> -log <LOG_FILE>

    Update the following variables in the previous command for your installation:

    The <FIX_IDS> variable is list of fixes to uninstall. Fix IDs are separated by spaces. Refer to Table 1: Required Fix IDs per product to get the correct fix IDs for your product.

    The <INSTALL_DIR> variable is the installation directory of the product.

    The <LOG_FILE> variable is the location and name of the silent log file to write.


  • Graphical user interface (GUI) of IBM Installation Manager to uninstall the interim fixes
    1. Close all programs that were installed using Installation Manager.


    2. Start Installation Manager. See Installation directories for the product and profile for more information on where Installation Manager is installed.


    3. From the Start page of the Installation Manager, click Uninstall to start the Uninstall packages wizard.


    4. On the Uninstall Packages page, from the Package Group Name list, select the package group that contains the interim fixes that you want to uninstall and click Next.


    5. Select the interim fix or fixes you want to remove and click Next.


    6. Read the summary information and click Uninstall to remove the fix or fixes.
      When the uninstall process completes, a message that confirms the success of the process is displayed near the top of the page.


    7. Optional: Click View log file to open the log file for the current session in a new window.


    8. Click Finish to close the wizard.


    9. Close Installation Manager.
