Why does this matter to you?
At Transfer of Business, May 1, 2012, it will be important to understand the strategy for license keys and dongles for current i2 Intelligence Analysis products and how customers and business partners may acquire generic software licenses keys, and in some cases dongles, for back releases of IBM i2 products.
What is changing?
The use of license keys in IBM i2 Intelligence Analysis products has changed. In IBM, the International Program License Agreement (IPLA) is the preferred method for controlling entitlement to products and feature/functionality rather than through the use of license keys.
For the current releases of all IBM i2 Intelligence Analysis products in Passport Advantage and FCT, the requirement for a software license key or hardware dongle has been removed. For i2 COPLINK customers, the IBM i2 COPLINK products do not use license keys.
Customers who choose to remain on back releases of their i2 Intelligence Analysis products will have the ability to download generic software license keys for each product from an IWM i2 Back Release Software site.
First time users will need to set up an IBM User ID at this URL, My IBM Registration site. They will then request an access key in order to logon to the back release site. The link to request an access key is i2 Back Release Software Request.
These back releases are available to existing IBM i2 customers who are entitled to the current version of the products or a replacement offering. For more information about i2 back releases and available products and version, see Downloads of IBM i2 Intelligence Analysis Back Release Software
Replacement Dongles
A lost or damaged dongle can be replaced by a generic software license key from the i2 Back Release Software site for almost all versions of i2 products.
In order to provide replacements for lost or damaged dongles where the software license key cannot be used a special process has been developed. They can request a replacement by completing a form on the i2 Dongle Requests site at i2 Dongle Replacement Request.
Customers can complete a self service web form to request a replacement dongle. Requests will be appropriately routed and IBM will contact these customers directly.
