Abstract
Tivoli Storage Manager (from now on referred to as TSM) includes within it, the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence offering, which in itself is a purchasable product sold by the IBM software division. Cognos is more than just a reporting tool, it is a business intelligence offering giving the customer real information manipulation and analysis capabilities normally not available in a storage management solution like TSM.
The key to the TSM Cognos offering is the data model developed by the Tivoli Storage manager development team. This model is used to map the complexities of the Tivoli Data Warehouse for TSM into an understandable and usable data definition making it easy to extract information from the TSM data store to place into your reports and queries.
