IBM Lotus Domino 8.5.3 System Requirements

Abstract

This document provides minimum system requirements for the 8.5.3 release of IBM Lotus® Domino. Higher maintenance levels, such as fix packs and service packs, may be supported as they become available. However, new release versions are not supported at this time.

IBM ODBC Driver 5.3.3 and future fix packs
  • IBM ODBC 5.3.3 32-bit driver should be installed on the local machine to connect to the databases using ODBC driver. IBM ODBC 5.3.3 is available as a separate download for Windows, AIX, Solaris, Linux. IBM ODBC 5.3.3  is pre-installed with Domino 8.5.3 on IBM i.
IBM ODBC Driver 5.3.3 64-bit

64 bit OS:

  • IBM ODBC 5.3.3 driver should be installed on the local machine to connect to the databases using ODBC driver for 64-bit Domino and LEI.
  • IBM ODBC 5.3.3 64-bit is available as a separate download for Windows and AIX 64-bit.

  • IBM i  only runs on 64-bit hardware and has been enabled for 64-bit for a long time. IBM i  also provides 128-bit pointer capability. This means that all software that runs on IBM i , including Domino, is 64-bit capable and typically uses 128-bit pointers.

  • The 64-bit kernel must be installed and in use, even though the OS will only deliver 32-bit for the Domino 32-bit server. The use of the 32-bit kernel is no longer supported. For more information see "FAQ: 64-bit version of Domino".  Please see the OS vendor documentation for questions on enabling/using the 64-bit kernel.  On Solaris, the 64-bit kernel is used by default on supported hardware.
