Web application servers (IBM FileNet Collaboration Services server)

The following table specifies the supported web application servers for the IBM FileNet Collaboration Services server.

Recommendation: It is strongly recommended that you install IBM FileNet Collaboration Services to a dedicated application server or application server cluster.

Important:The version of WebSphere Application Server used by IBM FileNet Collaboration Services must be the same as the version of WebSphere Application Server used by IBM FileNet Content Engine.

Web application server Notes

Client applications

The following table specifies the supported client applications for the IBM FileNet Collaboration Services server.

IBM® FileNet® Collaboration Services enables you to use client applications (IBM Connections or IBM Lotus® Quickr®) to directly store and access content in IBM FileNet P8.

Client application Notes
IBM Connections 3.0.1, 4.0, 4.5
Lotus Quickr 8.1, 8.2
Lotus Quickr Connectors 8.5

LDAP servers

IBM FileNet Collaboration Services supports all of the LDAP servers that IBM FileNet Content Engine supports.

Specific information about the supported LDAP servers for IBM FileNet Content Engine is included in the IBM FileNet P8 Hardware and Software Requirements document. See Article #7013654.

IBM FileNet Content Manager (Content server)

The following table specifies the supported versions of IBM FileNet Content Manager for this release of IBM FileNet Collaboration Services.

Specific information about the supported platforms for IBM FileNet Content Manager is included the IBM FileNet P8 Hardware and Software Requirements document. See Article #7013654.

IBM FileNet Content Platform Engine Client (IBM FileNet Collaboration Services server)

The Content Platform Engine Client enables IBM FileNet Collaboration Services to communicate with the IBM FileNet Content Manager server. You must install the version of the Content Platform Engine Client that is included with the version of the Content Engine to which you are connecting.

It is recommended that you install the Content Platform Engine Client after you install IBM FileNet Collaboration Services because you must add the Content Engine Client API files to the IBM FileNet Collaboration Services installation directory.

However, if the Content Engine Client is already installed on the machine when you install IBM FileNet Collaboration Services, you must run the Content Engine Client installation program again to add the Content Engine Client API files to the IBM FileNet Collaboration Services installation directory.

Additional support statements

IBM FileNet Collaboration Services is IPv6 compliant. You must review the vendor documentation to ensure functionality and support.

  • The operating system level, the database level, the application server, JRE, cluster server software, and the browser version must be certified as IPv6 compliant by the vendor. Before planning a IBM FileNet Collaboration Services IPv6 deployment, it is recommended that you verify the IPv6 compatibility of each of the vendor’s products in your environment.

Sizing and capacity planning

IBM FileNet Collaboration Services requires a minimum of:

  • Disk space: 200 MB
  • Memory: 1 GB

The amount of necessary CPU processing power, RAM, and disk space vary depending on your specific workload and your desired system capacity and performance. To build the best working system for your needs, build a test system and then move the system into production after you verify that it meets your needs.
