Abstract
This document contains the hardware and software prerequisites for IBM Content Management Interoperability Services for FileNet Content Manager (IBM CMIS) Version 1.0 and subsequent fix packs unless otherwise noted.

About the IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager server
On the server where you plan to install IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager, you must install a web application server and the IBM FileNet Content Engine Client. For additional information about the IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager server, see the following topics in the information center:

Recommendation: The IBM CMIS installation and configuration tools are 760 pixels x 500 pixels. It is recommended that you use a screen resolution that is at least 760 pixels x 500 pixels to view the tools.
Hardware platforms (IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager server)
The following table provides a list of the supported hardware platforms for the IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager server.
Not every operating system is supported for every hardware platform. See the Operating system table for a list of the operating systems that are supported on each platform.

Web application servers (IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager server)
The following table specifies the supported web application servers for the IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager server.
Important:Both IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager and IBM Content Engine must be on WebSphere Application Server. They can be on the same or different application servers or even different machines.
Recommendation: It is strongly recommended that you install IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager to a dedicated application server or application server cluster.

Databases
The following table specifies the supported databases for IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager. IBM CMIS supports only a subset of the databases that IBM FileNet Content Engine supports.

LDAP servers
IBM CMIS supports all of the LDAP servers that IBM FileNet Content Engine supports.
Specific information about the supported LDAP servers for IBM FileNet Content Engine is included the IBM FileNet P8 Version 5 Hardware and Software Requirements document. See Article #7013654.
IBM FileNet Content Manager (Content server)
The following table specifies the supported version of IBM FileNet Content Manager for this release of IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager. It is recommended that you update to IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager Version 1 Fix Pack 2 and use it with IBM FileNet Content Manager Version 5.2.
Specific information about the supported platforms for IBM FileNet Content Manager is included the IBM FileNet P8 Hardware and Software Requirements document. See Article #7013654.

IBM FileNet Content Engine Client (IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager server)
The Content Engine Client enables IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager to communicate with the IBM FileNet Content Manager server. You must install the version of the Content Engine Client that is included with the version of the Content Engine to which you are connecting.
It is recommended that you install the Content Engine Client after you install IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager because you must add the Content Engine Client API files to the IBM CMIS installation directory.
However, if the Content Engine Client is already installed on the machine when you install IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager, you must run the Content Engine Client installation program again to add the Content Engine Client API files to the IBM CMIS installation directory.

Sizing and capacity planning
IBM CMIS for FileNet Content Manager requires a minimum of:
- Disk space: 200 MB
- Memory: 1 GB
The amount of necessary CPU processing power, RAM, and disk space vary depending on your specific workload and your desired system capacity and performance. To build the best working system for your needs, build a test system and then move the system into production after you verify that it meets your needs.
