System requirements for IBM Optim Designer v2.2

Hardware requirements:

• Memory: Minimum of 2GB RAM; For best results: 4GB RAM
• Disk space:
  • Minimum of 2GB disk space is required for product package installation.
  • Additional disk space is required for workspaces.
  • Installation Manager, if not already installed, requires a minimum of 100MB disk space.
• Temporary space: 3GB if you are downloading an electronic version of Optim Designer

If you install from optical disc, a DVD drive is required for installation.

IBM Installation Manager:

Optim Designer is installed using IBM Installation Manager V1.4.3. Installation Manager is packaged on the Optim Designer installation disc. Run the appropriate installation program or script on the Optim Designer installation disc to install Installation Manager.

IBM InfoSphere® Data Architect:

InfoSphere Data Architect V7.5.3 is a prerequisite for Optim Designer. InfoSphere Data Architect V7.5.3 runs on Eclipse 3.4.2, using the IBM JDK 6.0. InfoSphere Data Architect V7.5.3 and Optim Designer are packaged together and can be installed simultaneously.

Optim Designer uses the Optim Manager interface to execute services, publish services to registries, and export services to files. The Optim Manager web interface requires the following browsers with Adobe Flash Player V9.0 or later installed on the browser.

Optim Designer supports the following data sources natively:

• IBM DB2® V9.1, V9.5 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows
• DB2 for z/OS® V9.1

Optim Designer supports the following additional data sources and corresponding JDBC drivers:

• DB2 for z/OS V8.1, V9.1, V 10.1
• DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows V9.1, V9.5, V9.7
• DB2 for iSeries V5R2, V5R4
• IBM Informix V11.5 (to connect to V11.5, select 11.0 in the connection wizard)

The following drivers are required:

• IBM Data Server Driver for JDBC and SQLJ V4.7 or higher for JDBC 4.0 applications
• IBM Data Server Driver for JDBC and SQLJ V3.57 or higher (or corresponding DB2 Connect version level) for JDBC 3.0 applications

Compatibility issues with previous versions of Optim components:

Note the following compatibility issues:

• Optim Designer V2.2 is not compatible with 2.1.x versions of Optim Management Console, Optim Management Server, Optim Proxy, or Optim Executor.


• If you upgrade Optim Designer V2.2.x to a later 2.2.x version, you must also upgrade Optim Manager, Optim Management Server, Optim Proxy, and Optim Executor to the same 2.2.x version to ensure compatibility.
