Abstract
These instructions explain how to install and use the Update Installer on IBM InfoSphere Information Server, Version 8.5, to apply patches, fix packs, or other updates. They also describe how to add additional product components to an existing installation.

1. Updating your installation

| Why you need to complete the tasks in the instructions | Use the instructions in this file to install one or more patches or fix packs. You need to install the most recent version of the Update Installer before you install updates. You can use the Update Installer to install one update at a time or multiple updates at once. |

2. Installing additional products or tiers after the updates

| Why you need to complete the task in the instructions | When you install an additional product or tier, you must use the latest version of the Suite Installer to insure that the product installs correctly. In addition to containing code that updates the installUpdates.exe file, the Update Installer contains code that updates the is-suite\updateImage.bat (or .sh) file. Note: Complete this task after you install updates and before you install any additional products or tiers. |
