Abstract
The change in underlying technology between IBM Rational Rose RealTime to Rational Software Architect RealTime Edition means that the migration from the Rational Rose RealTime tooling is complex and necessitates some paradigm shifts to accommodate the integrations into Eclipse and Rational Software Architect. This Best Practices guide will help you prepare for and execute a success migration from Rose RealTime to Rational Software Architect RealTime Edition 7.5.2, 7.5.3 and 7.5.4.

** Updated 14 September 2009 to include version 7.5.4 changes.
Rational Software Architecture RealTime Edition takes an evolutionary leap from the existing Rational Rose RealTime technology base for two main reasons:
- Rational Software Architecture RealTime Edition is built on the Eclipse Integrated Development Environment (IDE) platform (www.eclipse.org) and
- Rational Software Architecture RealTime Edition is based on the latest UML2 specification (http://www.omg.org/spec/UML/).
In addition, Rational Software Architecture RealTime Edition integrates with the existing stack of Rational UML Modeling tools that are built into Eclipse; these tools provide an all-in-one development environment for enterprise modeling and code generation.
Consequently, this change in underlying technology means that the migration from the Rational Rose RealTime tooling is complex and necessitates some paradigm shifts to accommodate the integrations into Eclipse and Rational Software Architect.
Refer to the attached PDF file to learn the best practices on how to successfully migrate from Rational Rose RealTime to Rational Software Architecture RealTime Edition.
Note: If you can not migrate your entire environment to the Rational Software Architecture RealTime Edition tooling environment all at once, review the migration whitepaper HERE to learn how you can continue work in the Rational RoseRT tooling while minimizing future migration efforts.
