Abstract
Typically, with most software (including IBM software), detailed documentation for each possible
configuration is not provided with the original documentation. This document hopes to take a
specific example of the ITM 6.1 Firewall Gateways’ configuration and its behavior in detail.
Included will be a diagram that shows both physical connections and specific TCPIP information
(listening ports and connection details). Next is a close look at how the ITM 6.1 Firewall
Gateways define these components and roles with the XML configuration files. This is followed
by a recommended startup sequence, since there are now so many components involved. Basic
troubleshooting will also be included.
This is intended for those using ITM 6.1 in a secure environment with firewalls and who may be
considering deployment. Expert knowledge of the ITM 6.1 Firewall Gateways is not required.
However, some knowledge of the basic components and functions would be helpful. Also
recommended is basic knowledge of the traditional components of ITM 6.1.
