Collecting Data: Read First for Tivoli Application Dependency Discovery Manager

Product documentation

Abstract

For every TADDM problem, collecting data can aid in problem determination and save time resolving Problem Management Records (PMRs).

Gathering this data before calling IBM® support will help us understand the problem and save time analyzing the data.

Content

Collecting data early, even before opening the PMR, helps IBM® Support quickly determine if:

  • Symptoms match known problems (rediscovery).
  • There is a non-defect problem that can be identified and resolved.
  • There is a defect that identifies a workaround to reduce severity.
  • Locating root cause can speed a development code fix.

Gathering General Information

Before gathering any data, please ensure you have the appropriate logging level enabled. Use the following technote to set the logging level before reproducing: 1639729 How to setup general DEBUG Logging in TADDM. Entering general information into an electronically-opened PMR (SR) eliminates the delay in resolving your problem, resulting from the time needed to collect and provide general initial information.
