Abstract

This document contains system requirements for WebSphere MQ v6 for z/OS.

The following products or equivalents are supported at the specified minimum levels:

Operating Systems
  • z/OS (5694-A01) V1.4
For shared queues:
  • z/OS V1.4, with Resource Recovery Services (RRS) activated, Coupling Facility Level 9, and DB2 Universal Database (5675-DB2) Version 7.1.
For Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
  • the z/OS Cryptographic Services System SSL function (FMID HCPT340)
For CICS applications
  • CICS Transaction Server (CTS) (5655-147) V1.3
For IMS applications
  • IMS (5655-B01) V7.1
For DB2 applications
  • DB2 (5675-DB2) V7.1 with APAR PQ71179
For PL/I applications
  • any PL/I compiler that generates calls to WebSphere MQ using the standard linkage convention
For COBOL applications
  • any COBOL compiler that generates calls to WebSphere MQ using the standard linkage convention
For Java™ users
  • IBM Developer Kit for z/OS, Java 2 Technology Edition, Version 1.3.1 (5655-D35)
Application Servers
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server, including the WebSphere Application Server client container, V6.0.2 (see this document for more information)
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server, including the WebSphere Application Server client container, V6.1 (see this document for more information)
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server, including the WebSphere Application Server client container, V7.0 (see this document for more information)
Cryptography Cards
Refer to the Cryptography Card List for WebSphere MQ v6 and v7 document for further information.

Notes:


  1. For software requirements, the Program Directory shipped with the product contains the latest level of information, particularly concerning APAR or PTF levels of supported products.
  2. If you choose to use Unicenter TCPaccess Communications Server from Computer Associates, Inc. in place of IBM TCP/IP, then you require V5.2 for OESockets.
  3. z/OS includes appropriate levels of Language Environment, TCP/IP, VTAM, SMP/E, TSO/E, JES, C/C++, DFSMS / DFP, Security Server, High Level Assembler, ISPF, and ICSS.
  4. Defect support is available for virtualization environments where they relate to releases of this platform already supported by WebSphere MQ. Unless stated elsewhere in the system requirements, WebSphere MQ has not been specifically tested in virtualization environments. WebSphere MQ Support is therefore unable to assist in issues related to configuration and setup, or issues that are directly related to the virtualization environment itself.
