Tivoli Field Guide - The Rights Needed on a Windows Endpoint
White paper
Abstract
A common request that is made is related to the user rights that are needed for the endpoint to work on a hardened Windows machine. This first release of this document will look at this issue from a framework perspective only. It attempts to describe all the rights necessary. It describes the user rights needed for the $root_user and tmersvrd accounts, and the Tivoli_Admin_Privileges group. The discussion will start with the information that has already been given in the excellent Redbook "Troubleshooting Tivoli with the Latest Features" (SG24-6614). This information will then be extended. On hardened systems, registry as well as directory access rights have to be considered. These considerations are only applicable to the tmersrvd account because the $root_user account is a member of the Administrators group and therefore has privileged access to the system.
