Abstract
Picture the sales force in your company, who spend most of their time on the road, in airports, and at customer sites giving presentations. Their success is dependent upon having a laptop computer with the latest software, patches, virus updates, and sales figures. As their administrator, you make it a point to send these updates to their division first. With MDist 2, you know that even if they are not currently on-line, the software will be available the next time they connect – no matter where they are or what they are doing.
Is this a good idea? You find out very quickly that people do not like to receive software updates in the airport or at customer sites, especially not through a dial-up modem. They wonder why the distribution can’t wait until they are back in the office and connected to the LAN.
