Abstract
This article discusses how to properly backup and restore the cluster service database using the Tivoli Storage Manager Microsoft Windows Backup-Archive client. This article does not discuss backup or restore of data that is stored on clustered disk resources, but focuses on the backup and restore of the MSCS database.
The Microsoft Cluster Server is clustering software that was introduced in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Enterprise Edition. The API to backup and restore the MSCS database is only available on the Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Windows 2000 Datacenter Server. The Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive client does not support backup and restore of the MSCS database in the Windows NT 4.0 Enterprise Edition environment.
