Tivoli Field Guide - TSM for Space Management

 White paper

Abstract
This is the second version of this field guide, now including a number of new chapters regarding new supported platforms (HP-UX, Linux, Windows) and new features like partial file recall, streaming mode.

The intention of this document is to give an overview about how the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Space Management client, also known as TSM HSM (in this document just referred to as HSM), works. An overview of the programs and files which HSM uses and how these work together can be found in section 2.

This document also contains several suggestions which are not yet described in the manuals and which are based on customers’ experience with the product over several years of HSM usage.
