Have you cleaned up your profiles and users lately?

A CL/SuperSession user profile is composed of one or more tables in the Tables Database (TDB) and some minimal information in the Network Access Manager (NAM) Database.

There are three approaches to cleaning up old profiles and users. If you are migrating from IBM CL/SuperSession V1.4.7, you may benefit from a cleanup before you start your migration to IBM CL/SuperSession V2.1.

Use these tools for ongoing maintenance of your profiles and users.



It is always a good idea to backup your Tables Database and Network Access Manager Database before performing any maintenance.



These sample dialogs can be uploaded into a PDS in your TLVPNLS started task concatenation.



KLSTBCLN
This is the recommended and most reliable method. It requires a flat file containing a list of CURRENT host users. You may be able to export this data from your RACF system.

Run the SAMPLIB dialog KLSTBCLN to check for old or unused profiles. KLSTBCLN reviews all of the profiles in the Tables Database and those found are compared against the list of current users. If a given profile is not listed in the flat file, it is deleted.


The code makes a few assumptions regarding the contents of the flat file.
1. The user name is in columns 1-8
2. There are no blank lines
3. There are no duplicate entries

KLSDUSER
This is a simple routine to display and optionally delete a single user. It can be incorporated into your normal user cleanup process. For example, when a user is deleted from RACF you can execute a system command to delete the corresponding user from CL/SuperSession.

TDBCLEAN - (Note: TDBCLEAN is for CL/SuperSession V1.4.7 only)
This maintenance routine deletes profiles which have not been updated in 30 days. It is adequate for most V147 users, however, it presumes that a user profile is updated with each logon which is no longer true in CL/ SuperSession V2.1. The table that tracks user logons is called SYSTEM.ACCESS.TABLE. In CL/SuperSession V1.4.7 this table was added by maintenance fixes.
