Impact Description

This is a maintenance release. It contains fixes for client-reported and internally found defects.

This release also contains fixes to the following security vulnerabilities:

Test Results

Definitions

Regression: An error in the Maintenance Delivery Vehicle (MDV) that produces incorrect or unexpected behavior causing a supported feature to stop functioning as designed.
This includes:

  • Coding errors that cause a regression
  • Documentation or packaging problems that cause a regression
  • Errors reported in a new function delivered in a MDV that cause a regression

Incomplete: An error in the MDV has not regressed, but does not work as designed.
This includes:

  • Fixed APARs which did not solve the original problem but did not break anything new
  • APARs reporting documentation errors, such as readme errors, that cause problems applying an MDV but do not lead to a regression

Notes:
  • Regression and incomplete APARs are considered fix-in-error or MDV-in-error
  • Definitions above apply only to valid APARs that result in product fixes (APARs returned as working-as-designed are not assessed for being fix-in-error)
  • Issues in major releases due to new functionality do not apply in this definition

There are no known regressions to report.

Known Side Effects

Review the following list of known issues and open defects:

Known issues

The following known issues exist in this release:

  • Running the upgrade a second or subsequent time is not supported.
If an error is encountered during the first attempt, the supported steps would be to:
    1. Revert the snapshot for all central servers
    2. Correct the issue causing the error
    3. Commit the snapshot(s) for the affected server(s)
    4. Create a new snapshot(s)
    5. Perform the upgrade
  • In 2.3.0.1, VMware 5.1 Update 2 and VMware 5.5 are supported via a well known and published VMware workaround to handle where the vSphere Client and vSphere PowerCLI may fail to connect to vCenter Server 5.5 (or VMware 5.1 Update 2) due to a handshake failure (Issue 2049143). Review the VMware KB article 2049143 for a more detailed explanation and how to solve the issue.
  • During upgrade of SmartCloud Orchestrator from 2.3 to Fix Pack 1, the existing certificates of SmartCloud Orchestrator are overwritten.
If you replaced the self-signed certificates with new (officially signed) ones (as described in Replacing the existing certificates topic in the IBM Knowledge Center) and imported them under the same alias names, then you must reimported them after the upgrade.
Note: If you kept the self-signed Business Process Manager certificate (alias "iwd") but you renamed it or reimported it under a different name, then the upgrade process will fail. Ensure the alias name of the self-signed certificate is "iwd" before attempting to upgrade to Fix Pack 1.
