Impact Assessment
Impact Description

Recommended

This is a service release. It contains new features as well as fixes for client-reported and internally found defects.

Definitions

Regression: An error in the Maintenance Delivery Vehicle (MDV) that produces incorrect or unexpected behavior causing a supported feature to stop functioning as designed.
This includes:

  • Coding errors that cause a regression
  • Documentation or packaging problems that cause a regression
  • Errors reported in a new function delivered in a MDV that cause a regression

Incomplete: An error in the MDV has not regressed, but does not work as designed.
This includes:

  • Fixed APARs which did not solve the original problem but did not break anything new
  • APARs reporting documentation errors, such as readme errors, that cause problems applying an MDV but do not lead to a regression

Notes:
  • Regression and incomplete APARs are considered fix-in-error or MDV-in-error
  • Definitions above apply only to valid APARs that result in product fixes (APARs returned as working-as-designed are not assessed for being fix-in-error)
  • Issues in major releases due to new functionality do not apply in this definition

There are no known regressions to report.

Limitations

Be aware of the following limitations:

  • In Amazon EC2, you cannot detach a mounted volume. Be sure to unmount the volume before detaching it.

Known Issues

General Issues

  • Because the default security group does not allow SSH communication, you must update the security group rules by running the following steps.

In a multi-domain environment, run the following steps for each domain in which you want to allow SSH communication.
    1. Log in to the OpenStack Dashboard as the Cloud Administrator.
    2. Click PROJECT > Access & Security in the navigation pane.
    3. Click Manage Rules for the default security group.
    4. Click Add Rule
    5. Specify SSH as Rule.
    6. Click Add.

  • In VMware, if you have virtual machine instances in disconnected or inaccessible status, and with an empty value for CPU or memory, the deployment of a new virtual machine fails with the message:

Services in selected region are not available

To deploy a new virtual machine, fix the status of the virtual machine instance or remove it from the inventory in VMware.
  • When using the Deploy LAMP stack offering, be sure that the target OpenStack region has only one network defined.

If multiple networks are defined in the region, the offering fails with the error message:

    No Network Adapter was found.

Documentation Issues
  • In the Checking OpenStack prerequisites topic of the IBM Knowledge Center, the following prerequisites are not listed:
    • The OpenStack installation must be RefStack compliant.
    • The OpenStack installation must use one Heat engine per region.
Configuring Heat with multi-region support is not supported by IBM Cloud Orchestrator.
