Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.1 Fix Pack 3 provides important product corrections and should be applied to all installations at your earliest convenience.


Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.1 Fix Pack 3 also provides many valuable enhancements related to Dynamic Query Mode (DQM), including Dynamic Cubes. It must therefore be installed onto all Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.1 instances of Cognos BI server, Dynamic Query Analyzer, and Cube Designer. An overview of these enhancements and detailed installation instructions may be found in this Technote. For these enhancements Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.1 Fix Pack 3 replaces Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.1.1 Interim Fix 3 (Dynamic Query Feature Bundle), which has been deprecated.

Product documentation is available in separate install kits and need only be downloaded if not previously installed as part of Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.1 Fix Pack 1. The download information page describing these documentation updates can be found here.


Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.1 Fix Pack 3 supports SAP HANA. Cognos Business Intelligence has been certified by SAP for HANA.

Prerequisites

This fix pack requires that Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.1 is already installed. An existing installation may optionally include earlier fix packs or interim fixes for Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.1. Our fix packs are cumulative by design. Hence Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.1 Fix Pack 3 includes all updates from earlier Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.1 fix packs and interim fixes.

Installation Instructions

To Download a Fix Pack

  1. Review the prerequisites.
  2. Download the appropriate compressed tar file using the links in the Download Package section.

Some browsers might change the downloaded file type from .tar.gz to a file type not recognized by the operating system. To correct this, change the file type back to tar.gz. Use of Download Director will prevent inadvertent renaming of files at download. 

To Install a Fix Pack on Linux or UNIX
  1. Copy the fix pack to the appropriate operating system.
  2. Change to the directory where you have downloaded the fix pack installation image.
  3. Enter the following command: gunzip <filename> .tar.gz | tar xvf –
  4. If you want to see the version of a component before you install it, unpack the tar file to disk, or read the table of contents of the tar file.
  5. Follow the Installation instructions in the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Installation and Configuration Guide.
  6. Apply the fix pack to all installations.
Note: GNU Zip can be obtained from www.gzip.org and GNU tar can be obtained from www.gnu.org/software/tar . 

To Install a Fix Pack on Windows
  1. Change to the directory where you have downloaded the fix pack.
  2. Using your file compress and decompress utility, decompress the .tar.gz file. If you are using WinZip, select the option "use folder names".
  3. If you want to see the version of a component before you install it, unpack the tar file to disk, or read the table of contents of the tar file.
  4. Follow the Installation instructions in the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Installation and Configuration Guide.
  5. Apply the fix pack to all installations.
