Prerequisites

Attention: IBM Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool (ART) and IBM Rational License Key Server Administration Agent MUST BE CONFIGURED according to the following hardware and software specifications, otherwise failure may occur during license administration and usage reporting.

Prerequisites include:

Version of IBM Installation Manager required: IBM Installation Manager 1.7.2.

Additional Notes: Upgrade the agent and ART to version 8.1.4.3 to obtain the RFE and improvements that are included in this release. Important: If you are upgrading the ART from version 8.1.4 to 8.1.4.3, you must upgrade the ART component first, before you upgrade the agent.

If the 8.1.4 agent is configured with the administration and reporting tool, when you upgrade to 8.1.4.3, the tool shows the reporting status as Not Running. When you select Start reporting for the first time, the log file conversion process begins. Depending on the size of your server log file, it can take time for the initial conversion of the data. The system must convert the data in the entire log to the required format.

NEW: Data backup and upgrade

Before upgrading to this fixpack, back up your license usage data by following the instructions in the technical note How to backup license usage data before upgrading to RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool version 8.1.4.3 or higher. When you install this fixpack and start ART, the license usage data is automatically upgraded to a new format. Once the data upgrade is complete, you see the login screen.

Rational License Key Server Administration Agent:

  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Disk space: 50 GB

Software requirements

Web browser requirement for Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool:

  • Mozilla Firefox: 10 ESR and future fix packs
  • Internet Explorer: Version 9, 10, or 11
    Important: Switch to Standard View by clicking Tools > Developer tools to work with the server administration and reporting tool. Internet Explorer does not render the server administration and reporting tool properly in Compatibility View.

Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool:

  • Rational License Key Server: version 8.1.2, 8.1.3, or 8.1.4
    Note: Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool does not support Rational License Key Server 8.1.1
  • Jazz team server version 4.0.1 and later
  • Operating systems: ONLY 64-BIT OPERATING SYSTEMS ARE SUPPORTED

Rational License Key Server Administration Agent:

  • Installation Prerequisite: The Server Administration Agent MUST BE COLLOCATED with the license server
  • Operating Systems: All operating systems supported by Rational License Key Server (version 8.1.2 and later versions) and the IBM solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management (version 4.0.1 and later versions) server.

Regression: An error in the Maintenance Delivery Vehicle (MDV) that produces incorrect or unexpected behavior causing a supported feature to stop functioning as designed.

  • Coding errors that cause a regression
  • Documentation or packaging problems that cause a regression
  • Errors reported in a new function delivered in a MDV that cause a regression

Incomplete: An error in the MDV has not regressed, but does not work as designed.
This includes:

  • Fixed APARs which did not solve the original problem but did not break anything new
  • APARs reporting documentation errors, such as readme errors, that cause problems applying an MDV but do not lead to a regression

Notes:
  • Regression and incomplete APARs are considered fix-in-error or MDV-in-error

APAR Description

For CLM 5.0 and later, the usage for DOORS Next Generation (DNG) is tracked in this version of the Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool under the product name Requirements Management.

--

When you add the agent into the Administration and Reporting Tool, the Agent Host parameter must be in lower case. When the user specifies the hostname, it must be in lowercase. For more details, review technote 1676751: License Server is not listed on the report definition page when the Agent Host parameter is in upper case.

--

When using a Firefox version that is earlier than version 26, the time column for the UserBased reports for non-hourly frequency may show as NaN.

--

When using a redundant server setup, if the reporting operation is started on all three servers contained in the triad, and if the redundant server setup is restarted, reports for the time period that include the duration after the server restart will be inaccurate.

What's new

The Configure Later option is no longer available in versions 8.1.4.3 and later.

You must provide the license server information during the installation of the agent.

Email support for scheduled reports

You can set up email notifications so that the specified users receive an email that contains the generated scheduled report as an attachment.

Support for reporting on Jazz authorized user licenses

You can report against Jazz authorized user licenses. Only user-based reports are supported. Also, reporting of trial licenses is not supported.

Ability to select one of the installed FlexLM services (RLKS service)

RLKS Administration Agent installation now provides a capability to select one of the installed FlexLM services (RLKS service) which is used to administer the license server. This feature is only applicable for Windows.
