Impact Assessment
Impact Description

This is a fixpack release. It contains fixes for client-reported and internally found defects.

Regression: An error in the Maintenance Delivery Vehicle (MDV) that produces incorrect or unexpected behavior causing a supported feature to stop functioning as designed.
This includes:

  • Coding errors that cause a regression
  • Documentation or packaging problems that cause a regression
  • Errors reported in a new function delivered in a MDV that cause a regression

Incomplete: An error in the MDV has not regressed, but does not work as designed.
This includes:

  • Fixed APARs which did not solve the original problem but did not break anything new
  • APARs reporting documentation errors, such as readme errors, that cause problems applying an MDV but do not lead to a regression

  • Regression and incomplete APARs are considered fix-in-error or MDV-in-error
  • Definitions above apply only to valid APARs that result in product fixes (APARs returned as working-as-designed are not assessed for being fix-in-error)
  • Issues in major releases due to new functionality do not apply in this definition

There are no known regressions to report.

APAR Description
N/A Rollback of RLKS ART 8142 to RLKS ART 814 does not work. Review technote 1666051: Rolling back Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting Tool to version 8.1.4 for more details.
N/A ART 8142 does not report against token consumption of Rhapsody DM and RSA DM products individually. Review technote 1666029: Reports for Design Management products regarding this limitation.
N/A Issues with console mode installation on 8142 Agent in non-english locales. Review technote 1667210: Inconsistency in configuration page options during console mode installation of Rational License Key Server Administration Agent for workarounds.
N/A Issue with reports containing ampersand character from 814 release. Report definitions from 814 that contain this character in their title need to be deleted and reconfigured without the ampersand.
N/A When generating expiration reports  from time zones that are behind GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), the expiration dates reported are a day behind the actual expiration date. For example, if you are generating a report from
PST ( GMT - 8:00 ) with a license that expires on 1/15/2014, the expiration report shows the expiration date as 1/14/2014.
N/A The Data Duration in some scheduled reports loses one day of information. Review technote 1668412: The Data Duration in some Scheduled reports loses one day of information for more details

Change history

What's new

Allow the agent to handle Rational License Key Server restart operations.

The agent is now enabled to handle restart operations, without any impact on reporting and without any data loss. For more details review technote 1671165: How RLKS Administration and Reporting Tool version manages restarts of the Rational License Key Server to prevent the RLKS log file from being overwritten and the loss of license usage data

The Rational License Key Server Administration reporting tool (ART) and the agent should start automatically whenever the machine is started.

The tool and the agent are installed as services on Windows platforms. When you restart the ART and agent machines, the system automatically restarts the services.

Usability improvements in the report definition page with respect to report metrics and their attributes.

There is a clear indication of which inputs are required to create a report definition.

Include CLM products in addition to RTC, RQM, and RRC in token distribution report.

Starting with version, the Rational License Key Server Administration and Reporting tool reports against Design Management products such as RSA Design Manager and Rhapsody Design Manager.

Prevent the serviceability logs from being created as a default configuration.

Rational License Key Server version provides a mechanism to disable the generation of the serviceability logs for the client libraries.

Compliant with IBM serviceability guidelines. Allows you to determine proper recovery procedures using product messages and logs.

All product messages now have a code.

The ART and the agent are enabled to restore the agent's reporting status after restarting the agent.

Users are not required to perform the "Start reporting" operation.

Support for Windows 2012

Windows 2012 is now a supported platform for Rational License Key Server, the agent, and ART.

Support for Internet Explorer 11

Internet Explorer 11 is a supported browser for the ART.

Additional Notes

Upgrade the agent and ART to version to obtain the RFE and improvements included in this release.

Important: If you are upgrading the ART from version 8.1.4 to, you must upgrade the ART component first, before you upgrade the agent.

If the 8.1.4 agent is configured with the administration and reporting tool, when you upgrade to, the tool shows the reporting status as Not Running. When you select Start reporting for the first time, the log file conversion process begins. Depending on the size of your server log file, it can take time for the initial conversion of the data. The system must convert the data in the entire log to the required format.
