Abstract

This document describes how to download IBM InfoSphere Streams for Non-Production Environment Version 3.0, or later.

Download Description

IBM InfoSphere Streams is a key component of the IBM big data platform, which allows you to capture, analyze, and act on business data from a broad range of sources. Using real-time analytic processing (RTAP) technology, InfoSphere Streams can continuously analyze massive volumes of streaming data in real-time, with extremely fast response times. In addition to reporting changes in data, InfoSphere Streams can notify users and systems of data changes, and take specific actions to respond to those changes in real-time.

You can use InfoSphere Streams to develop and run applications that process information in data streams. To develop stream processing applications, InfoSphere Streams provides the IBM Streams Processing Language (SPL), an Eclipse-based integrated development environment (IDE), and toolkits. The InfoSphere Streams runtime system enables you to run your applications on a single or distributed set of hosts.

System and operating system requirements

All InfoSphere Streams hosts must run a supported version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or the Community Enterprise Operating System (CentOS). The following table lists the supported operating system versions on x86_64 and IBM POWER7® systems.

Note: For the most current information about system and operating system requirements, see the InfoSphere Streams system requirements web page (http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27036140).

Downloading the product

  1. Before downloading any files from the Passport Advantage® website, go to the IBM Fix Central website (http://www.ibm.com/eserver/support/fixes), and check for Version 3.0 fixes:
    1. For Product Group, select Information Management.
    2. For the Information Management product, select InfoSphere Streams.
    3. For Installed Version, select 3.0.0.0.
    4. For Platform, select your Linux platform.
    5. Click Continue.
    6. On the Identify fixes page, select Browse for Fixes, and then click Continue.

  2. Download IBM InfoSphere Streams for Non-Production Environment:

    • If there are fixes for Version 3.0, download the latest fix pack from the IBM Fix Central website. For additional instructions, see the fix pack readme file.

InfoSphere Streams fix packs include a complete version of the product. When you install the latest Version 3.0 fix pack, the installation procedure installs a version of the product that contains all Version 3.0 fixes.

    • If there are no fixes for Version 3.0, review the downloadable parts for eAssembly CRKM8EN, and download the files that you need from the IBM Passport Advantage website (http://www.ibm.com/software/howtobuy/passportadvantage/pao_customers.htm).

After downloading the product files, see the Quick Start Guide to get started with IBM InfoSphere Streams for Non-Production Environment. This guide provides references to more detailed information in the InfoSphere Streams documentation.

  3. Optional: You can download the following IBM software from the Passport Advantage website. For part numbers, see Table 5.

    IBM InfoSphere BigInsights™ Enterprise Edition
InfoSphere BigInsights extends the Hadoop open source framework with enterprise-grade security, governance, availability, integration into existing data stores, and tools that simplify developer productivity. Hadoop is a computing environment built on top of a distributed, clustered file system that is designed specifically for large-scale data operations. For more information, see the BigInsights Quick Start Guide and Information Center (http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/bigins/v2r0).

    IBM accelerators
IBM accelerators apply advanced analytics to help integrate and manage your data. The following table describes the IBM accelerators that are available for InfoSphere Streams and InfoSphere BigInsights.

    Table 2. IBM accelerators
    Accelerator Description Product information
IBM Accelerator for Machine Data Analytics Provides business logic, data processing capabilities, and visualization for use cases related to machine data. Runs on InfoSphere BigInsights only.
IBM Accelerator for Social Data Analytics Provides business logic, data processing capabilities, and visualization for use cases related to social data. Requires InfoSphere BigInsights and InfoSphere Streams.
IBM Accelerator for Telecommunications Event Data Analytics Enables you to analyze, leverage, and transform raw telecommunications data into meaningful insight. Runs on InfoSphere Streams only.

For the most current information about installing and using IBM accelerators, see the InfoSphere Streams Information Center (http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/streams/v3r0) and the InfoSphere BigInsights Information Center (http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/bigins/v2r0).

    IBM DB2®
To enable the recovery of failed runtime components, InfoSphere Streams can work with an IBM DB2 database server to store runtime data in a recovery database. For more information, see the InfoSphere Streams Information Center (http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/streams/v3r0).
