Abstract
This document describes how to download and install IBM® WebSphere eXtended Transaction Runtime V2.1 components using the Passport Advantage® Online website.

IBM® WebSphere® eXtended Transaction Runtime (WXTR) is a distributed online transaction processing environment for hosting COBOL and C applications with IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS).WXTR provides native runtime connectivity between Java Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) and COBOL or C applications, significantly easing integration required for composite applications in an enterprise environment. Through tight-integration with the system management capability of WAS, you can achieve easy deployment, administration, and optimization of services.
WXTR V2.1 extends language coverage to applications written in C, along with COBOL and now supports Oracle Database, in addition to IBM DB2, as resource managers. It has improvements in integration with WAS through support for global transactions, security context propagation, and provides support for clustered deployments using WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment (WAS ND).
Downloading and installing the product
- Download the software.
- Extract software to the temporary directory on the target system used to host the installation images. The files must remain archived and compressed if downloaded to a Microsoft® Windows® environment to avoid file corruption when extracting, and must be unpacked only on the target platform.
- To install WXTR follow the instructions given in the installation section of the Readme file
