1.0 General description

This package contains the upgrade images for IBM Tivoli Monitoring
for Energy Management

2.0 Problems fixed

The following are the major issues fixed with

2.1 Fixed Issues Surrounding Drill-Through Reports in Reporting
and Optimization

In 6.3.2, two charts have no drill down report: Server
Disk Capacity Chart and Virtual Memory Capacity Chart. This
has been fixed and they now drill down to the Data
Center Power Usage report.

In 6.3.2, the UPS Devices By Battery Time chart drills down to
the "Power Trend report". Per the user's Guide, it should drill down
to the UPS Battery Usage report. This has been fixed in

2.2 Fixed Issues With Several Untranslated English-language Strings

In 6.3.2 there were several strings in Reporting and Optimization that
were not translated in a non-English locale. These have been
fixed and all screens should now be translated correctly.

2.3 Fixed Issue with OPC Servers agent on Windows 2008

In 6.3.2 the OPC Servers agent would not collect data on Windows 2008.
The symptom is that the TEP navigator tree oscillates between being
online (black) and offline (grey). Even when the agent is online,
no data is received (no rows in the workspaces for summary nor
detailed attribute groups).

2.4 APAR: IV14707
Additional information: The ke1_provider.exe might crash on Windows 2008
with the following error:
Faulting application name: ke1_provider.exe, version:,

3.0 Enhancements

The following are the major enhancements provided with

3.1 Batch data collection for the OPC Servers agent

The OPC agent has been enhanced to support reading multiple points
using one API call to the OPC Server. In 6.3.2, attribute values were
read from the OPC Server one-by-one. In, the OPC Servers
agent will read multiple attributes at a time, increasing
performance significantly.

3.2 BMS Agent Mapping File Enhancement

In previous releases, there is an inconsistency in the BMS agent
mapping files in the use of spaces and underscores ("_") in the
device mapping files. As an example, some agents use
TivoliAttribute="Power Input", while others use
TivoliAttribute="Power_Input". In, the agents were modified
to allow either spaces or underscores in the TivoliAttriubute value,
to make the creation of the device mapping files easier.

4.0 Architecture and prerequisites

This fix pack is supported on all operating systems listed in the IBM
Tivoli Monitoring for Energy Management Prerequisities, version 6.3.2.
See the Tivoli Monitoring for Energy Management Information Center for
complete product documentation:

6.0 Installation instructions

The upgrade images are designed only to install on a previous version
of Tivoli Monitoring for Energy Management. See the Information
Center URL listed in section 3.0 for complete product documentation.

7.0 Additional installation information

7.1 Updating the Active Energy Manager plug-in

No changes were made to the Systems Director Active Energy
Manager plug-in version Therefore, it is not
necessary to remove and reinstall the plug-in.

7.2 Updating the Agents

You can upgrade the ITM for Energy Management agents from any
previous release.

7.3 Upgrading Reporting and Optimization

The steps to upgrade from previous versions of Reporting and
Optimization vary, though the installation program performs
the same basic tasks. For more information, search for the
"Upgrading from previous versions of Reporting and
Optimization" topic in the Tivoli Monitoring for Energy Management
Information Center located at:

7.4 Language Pack Installation

Instructions for installing the language pack can be found in all of the
monitoring agent user's guides located at the URL listed in section 7.3.

7.5 Custom Charts Not Migrated During Upgrade

ITMfEMRO charts placed on a custom page are not migrated on the upgrade from
R&O version to version 6.3.2. After the upgrade the custom page will
exist but will no longer contain the R&O charts it did in version
Instead the page will contain the Charting portlet.

This is due to the fact that TCR must be upgraded from version 1.3
to version 2.1.1 as part of the R&O upgrade from to 6.3.2.
The TCR upgrade does not migrate the BIRT charts.

The work around is to record the contents of your custom pages (i.e. take a
screen shot, etc) before doing an upgrade and then recreate the charts on your
custom pages via the Charting portlet after the upgrade is complete.
