Prerequisites

Netcool/Reporter 2.2.0.0 release must be installed (a previous fix pack is optional)

Installation Instructions

UNIX/Linux

1. Shut down the Netcool/Reporter application.

    - Exit any Netcool/Reporter clients.
    - Shut down Netcool/Reporter server.

2. Back up the Netcool/Reporter file system and repository database.

3. Environment variables $ORACLE_HOME and $LIBPATH must be defined if database type is Oracle.

4. If you are using Sybase, you must set the $SYBASE environment variable to the path of the Sybase installation directory. For example:
    SYBASE=/djxclient/sybase/V125

You must also check that the following file can be found at the location indicated:
    $SYBASE/jConnect-5_5/classes/jconn2.jar

5. The package is delivered as a compressed UNIX tar file, 2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Aix-FP0008.tar.gz. Extract it into a temporary directory (for example, /opt/tmp) as follows:
    % cd /opt/tmp
    % gzip -dc 2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Aix-FP0008.tar.gz | tar xvf -

6. A subdirectory, 2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Aix-FP0008 is created under the temporary directory (for example: /opt/tmp/2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Aix-FP0008). All files and utilities required to install the patch are extracted into this subdirectory.

7. Change to the directory 2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Aix-FP0008, which contains the patch files to be installed.

8. The UNIX user who runs this upgrade patch should be the same user who starts Reporter. For example, if the user is the root user, please also upgrade as the root account. If you are not logged in as the root user, enter the following command to switch user to root:
    $ su - root
    password:#

9. Run the "setup.sh" script and include the database type and database version. For example:
    % setup.sh sybase, or
    % setup.sh oracle9i

You might need to change the permission to execute the setup.sh script using chmod. For example:
    % chmod 755 setup.sh

10. The patch installer might request the location of the Netcool/Reporter directory if the $INFOHOME environment is not defined.

11. The patch installer backs up existing files into the following directory before copying the new files.
    $INFOHOME/backup/vpatch_2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Aix-FP0008

12. The installer prompts you to enter ASE Server IP address (or host name) and Port number if database type is Sybase.

13. If you are not using the default port 7777 for Server Admin, and the startdmin script is not installed in the default directory, you will be prompted for the document directory. When this occurs, specify the parent directory in which the /bin/startdmin script is located. For example, if your startdmin script is installed in / opt/netcool/reporter/bin, specify /opt/netcool/reporter.

14. In non-English environments, you must reset the language option by running the Language Pack utility. Extract ITNR-2.2-UNIX_langpack.tar.gz into a temporary directory (for example, /opt/tmp). A subdirectory ITNR-2.2-UNIX_langpack is created, for example:
    % cd /opt/tmp
    % gzip -dc ITNR-2.2-UNIX_langpack.tar.gz | tar xvf -

Change to the created folder and install the language pack by entering following commands:
    % cd ITNR-2.2-UNIX_langpack/nls
    % SetupLang.sh

15. After the patch is processed, start Netcool/Reporter.

16 [Optional] . The Patch Rollback. If the patch installation is unsuccessful and you want to restore the Netcool/Reporter system to its prepatched state, run the following command:
    % setup.sh oracle9i rollback

The installer will recover back-up files from directory $INFOHOME/backup/vpatch_2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Aix-FP0008.

Before performing the rollback process, please make sure the encryption mode in Netcool/Reporter is the same as that in the back-up directory. To do this,compare the DOAES parameter in the universal.conf in the following directories:
    $INFOHOME/backup/vpatch_2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Aix-FP0008/universal.conf and
    $INFOHOME/universal.conf

Both these files should have DOAES=false or DOAES=true. If they are different please switch current encryption mode back to its original setting by running the trans.sh script (refer to the section: Running the AES Utility ).
  • Note: Do not simply modify that parameter in either configuration file for consistency. This will NOT change the encryption mode.

Windows

1. Shut down the Netcool/Reporter application.
    - Exit any Netcool/Reporter clients.
    - Stop all running processes in Netcool/Reporter server.
    - Do not access or open any Netcool/Reporter directory.

2. Back up your Netcool/Reporter file system and repository database.

3. Environment variables %INFOHOME% and %ORACLE_HOME% (for Oracle database type only) must be defined.

4. If you are using Sybase, you must set the %SYBASE% environment variable to the path of the Sybase installation directory. For example:
    SYBASE=C:\djxclient\sybase\V125

You must also check that the following file can be found at the location indicated:
    %SYBASE%/jConnect-5_5/classes/jconn2.jar

5. The patch is delivered as a zip file, 2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Win32-FP0008 .zip. Uncompress the file into a temporary directory (for example, C:\temp)."

A subdirectory, 2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Win32-FP0008 is created under the temporary directory, for example, C:\temp\2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Win32-FP0008. All files and utilities required to install the patch are extracted into this subdirectory.

6. Change to the directory 2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Win32-FP0008, which contains the patch files to be installed.

7. Launch DOS prompt window, run "setup.bat" to start the patch installation and include the database type and version.

For example:
    setup.bat oracle10g or
    setup.bat sybase

The patch installer backs up existing files into the %INFOHOME%\backup\vpatch_2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Win32-FP0008 directory before copying the new files.

8. The installer prompts you to enter the Sybase server IP and Port number if the repository database is Sybase.

9. This is an optional step for users who want to enable Active Directory authentication. Please make sure that you have implemented Active Directory setup, and your organization domain has been created. If you choose to enable Active Directory authentication, you will be prompted to provide follow information:
    Domain server name or IP
    Domain login account/password with administrator privilege
  • Note: In case there is any change to Active Directory authentication settings after installation, you should refer to the Admin Guide or contact the support team for details.

10. In non-English environments, you must reset the language option by running the Language Pack utility. Uncompress ITNR-2.2-WINDOWS_langpack.zip into a temporary directory (for example, C:\temp). A subdirectory ITNR-2.2-WINDOWS_langpack is created.

Change to the created folder and install the language pack by entering following commands:
    cd C:\temp\ITNR-2.2-WINDOWS_langpack\nls
    SetupLang.bat

11. After the patch is processed, start Netcool/Reporter.

12 [Optional]. The Patch Rollback. If the patch installation is unsuccessful and you want to restore the Netcool/Reporter system to its pre-patched state, run the following command:
    setup.bat oracle9i rollback

The installer will recover back-up files from directory %INFOHOME%\backup\vpatch_2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Win32-FP0008.

Before performing the rollback process, please make sure the encryption mode in Netcool/Reporter is the same as that in the back-up directory. To do this, compare the DOAES parameter in the universal.conf in the following directories:
    %INFOHOME%\backup\vpatch_2.2.0-TIV-NCReporter-Win32-FP0008\universal.conf and
    %INFOHOME%\universal.conf

Both these files should have DOAES=false or DOAES=true. If they are different please switch current encryption mode back to its original setting by running the trans.bat script (refer to the section: Running the AES Utility ).
  • Note: Do not simply modify that parameter in either configuration file for consistency. This will NOT change the encryption mode.

How to enable IPV6 in the Netcool/Reporter

1. To configure Apache to listen on IPv6 addresses, refer to the Apache manual on the Web at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/bind.html

For example, to make Apache server accept connections on IPv6 port 8888, adding address-and-port combinations as below:
    Listen [fc00::a00:20ff:fef5:929a]:8888
    Listen 192.168.0.8:8888
  • Apache server should be able to accept incoming requests from both IPv4 and IPv6 connections. Please DO NOT comment out Listen directive for IPv4 connections.

2. Note that if your Apache worked with SSL, you may need to update the $APACHE_HOME/conf/ssl.conf file where the specified port and IPv6 addresses must be added into, as in the following example:

Listen [fc00::a00:20ff:fef5:929a]:9443
Listen 192.168.0.8:9443
  • As aforementioned, please DO NOT comment out Listen directive for IPv4 connections.

3. Add following line into the file $INFOHOME/server/infosrv.conf, for example:

INFOIP|fc00::a00:20ff:fef5:929a
  • Note: You should change fc00::a00:20ff:fef5:929a to the actual IPv6 address of your server.
