SPSS Statistics 19.0 Fix Pack 2

Downloadable files

Abstract

This Fix Pack will upgrade your SPSS Statistics 19.0 (19.0.0.0) or 19.0 FP1 (19.0.0.1) installation to SPSS Statistics 19.0 FP2 (19.0.0.2).

Download Description

This Fix Pack provides important product corrections for SPSS Statistics 19.0 and 19.0 FP1. It has gone through a targeted regression test suite aimed at validating the roll-up of escalated defect resolutions that have gone into the build kits.

Issues corrected: Fix List

NOTE: In the transition from SPSS to IBM versioning nomenclature, an additional number was added. For example, the original Statistics 19 release would have been "19.0.0" -- it is now "19.0.0.0". Thus, under the new numbering scheme, the Statistics "19.0.0.2 Fix Pack" is what would have been known before the transition as the Statistics "19.0.2 Patch".

The 19.0.0.2 Fix Pack contains everything included in the 19.0.0.1 Fix Pack, all Interim Fixes (HotFixes) made available since the release of 19.0.0.1 as well as other corrected issues, and can be installed over 19.0 or 19.0 FP1.

In other words, if you are starting with a fresh install of 19.0, there is no need to install 19.0 FP1 before installing 19.0 FP2.

Prerequisites

This Fix Pack is language independent but can only be installed over existing client and server installations of IBM SPSS Statistics 19.0.0.0 or 19.0.0.1 (19.0 FP1).

SPSS Statistics - 19.0 FP2 Installation Instructions

Installation Windows (click to expand)
Installation Windows
1. Log in as a local administrator.
2. Download the .zip file and extract the contents to a temporary location on your hard drive.
3. Ensure that no versions of Statistics is running.
4. Run the Statistics 19.0.0.2 Fix Pack executable.
Note:
If you are installing on a Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 operating system, you must use "Run as Admin" by first right-clicking on the executable.
5. Allow a reboot.
6. Statistics 19.0.0.2 is ready to run. Use the Help -> About menu to verify that 19.0.0.2 is now the installed version.

Guidelines for unattended/pushed installations for Windows-based clients:
The SPSS Statistics 19.0.0.2 for Windows Fix Pack obeys the same rules documented in the Site and Network License Administrator's Guides regarding "Extracting the Contents of a Downloaded Installer file" and "Pushing an Installation to Windows Computers".

In this case,

1. Download the appropriate installer file to a temporary location on your hard drive.
2. Open a command window as the local Administrator account and change directory to the temporary download location.
3. Extract the "SPSSStatistics19.0.2Patch.msi" and locale-specific .mst file into a specified location from the downloaded FixPack installer file
("SPSS_Statistics_19002_win32_Patch.exe", for example) using the documented "/b" switch:
SPSS_Statistics_19002_win32_Patch.exe /b"c:\Stats19002FixPack"
4. You can then copy the two extracted files to a network share for easier distribution.
5. Install the patch:
msiexec /i "c:\Stats19002FixPack\SPSSStatistics19.0.2Patch.msi" /qn /L*V
"c:\Stats19002FixPack\Stats19002install.log" TRANSFORMS="c:\Stats19002FixPack\1033.mst"
Installation Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and 10.5 (Leopard) (click to expand)

SPSS Statistics Server - 19.0 FP2 Installation Instructions

Installation Windows (click to expand)
Installation UNIX/Linux (click to expand)
Installation UNIX/Linux
Note: On UNIX and Linux, the Statistics Server upgrade is now a true incremental upgrade and not a complete, fresh installation. Installing the Fix Pack for the appropriate platform should be similar to the instructions for installing your server given in the SPSS Statistics Server Installation Instructions.

1. Download the appropriate archive and extract the contents to a directory on the server machine.
2. Shut down Statistics Server prior to applying the Fix Pack.
3. You need ownership permissions for the /bin and /lib subdirectories. For example, if you installed as root, type the following at the UNIX prompt: chown -R root:root bin lib common
4. When running SPSS Statistics Server with internal authentication, a regular user can be the owner of these directories. Refer to the SPSS Statistics Server Administrator’s Guide for more information.
5. The Fix Pack can be installed silently using the installer.properties file that comes with the 19.0 release (on the DVD):
./<installer_name> -f installer.properties
where <installer_name> is the installer .bin file that you ftp'ed to the server.
6. You can also execute the installer directly to launch a graphical version of the installer. (Note: You will need an X Window System to do so):
./<installer_name>
Note for graphical installer: You should change the default installer directory for the patch in the Install Wizard to point it to the directory
on the server where Statistics Server 19.0 is installed.
7. Start the Statistics Server after the Fix Pack installation is complete.
8. Run .statisticsb and enter SHOW VERSION. The response should indicate 19.00.00.02

Note: Version 19.0.0.1 and 19.0.0.2 now provide support for the zLinux SuSe 11 platform, but a particular Fortran library is required, and can be obtained at novell.com/products/linuxpackages/server10/sp3/s390x/libgfortran.html
SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services - Server Adapter for Statistics Installation Instructions

The following instructions are for installing the SPSS® Collaboration and Deployment Services - Server Adapter for Statistics to an existing SPSS® Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository. The adapter registers mime types required by SPSS® Statistics with the SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services Repository.
For users installing to a 4.1 or 4.2 repository, the adapter also includes the Statistics portal, which allows users to run web applications that utilize SPSS Statistics.
Note: The Statistics portal is included with SPSS® Collaboration and Deployment Services version 4.0 and does not require separate installation.

Users Installing to SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 (click to expand)
Installation Collaboration and Deployment Services - Server Adapter for Statistics
  • Note: If you already have the 19.0 of 19.0 FP1 Collaboration and Deployment Server Adapters installed, this installation will remove the old adapters and install the new ones for FP2.
  • Ensure that the IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services application server is in the following state:

JBOSS: shutdown
WebLogic: shutdown
WebSphere: running; server should be recycled prior to running the installer to clean jni handles
  • Unzip the installer for your platform with appropriate SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services version (supported versions are 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2).

For example : SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services 4.0 for windows
19.0-IM-S19STATA4.0-Windows-FP002.exe.zip

Note: - SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services 4.0 installer could also be used for 3.5 by
just changing the install location.

Launch the installer and follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

  • When prompted for a Java Virtual Machine, choose the same Java VM that you used when installing SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services. If that Java VM is not in the list displayed on the Choose Java Virtual Machine panel, then click Choose Java Executable to navigate to the desired Java VM or click Search Another Location to perform an automated search for Java VM instances under a specified location.

If you encounter errors using the above approach, then please launch the installer from the
command line, using the LAX_VM parameter to specify the path to the desired Java VM, as in:
install.exe LAX_VM <path to Java executable>

Please be sure to specify the path to the same Java executable you used when installing IBM SPSS
Collaboration and Deployment Services, for example:
install.exe LAX_VM "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\bin\java.exe"
  • Restart SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services.
