Abstract

This Interim Fix will upgrade your IBM Cognos Controller 10.1 release.

This Interim Fix addresses important product corrections for Cognos Controller 10.1 and should be applied to all installations.

Prerequisites

This applies to Controller 10.1.0 available from Passport Advantage.

Installation Instructions

To Download the Interim Fix

1. Review the prerequisites.

2. Download the appropriate compressed tar file using the links in the Download Package section.

Some browsers might change the downloaded file type from .tar.gz to a file type not recognized by the operating system. To correct this, change the file type back to .tar.gz. Use of Download Director will prevent inadvertent renaming of files at download.


To Install the Interim Fix

1. Change to the directory where you have downloaded the Interim Fix.

2. Using your file compress and decompress utility, decompress the .tar.gz file. If you are using WinZip® , select the option "use folder names".

3. If you want to see the version of a component before you install it, unpack the tar file to disk, or read the table of contents of the tar file.

4. Stop the following services:

  • IBM Cognos service
  • IBM Cognos Controller Batch Server
  • IBM Cognos Controller Java Proxy
  • IBM Cognos Controller User Manager
  • IBM Cognos FAP Service
  • Internet Information Services (IIE) Manager (the Default Web Site)
  • Components Services IBMCOGNOSCONTROLLER

5. Back up the content store database.

6. If your IBM Cognos Controller environment is customized, back up the entire IBM Cognos Controller location.

7. Go to the location where you downloaded and extracted the files.

8. Go to the win32 directory and double-click the issetup.exe file.

9. Follow the directions in the installation wizard, installing in the same location as your existing IBM Cognos Controller server components.
The issetup program prompts you to allow the interim fix to create a backup copy in the installation folder before copying new files.

10. Open IBM Cognos Configuration, save the configuration, and then start the IBM Cognos service.

11. Start the following services:

  • IBM Cognos Controller Batch Server
  • IBM Cognos Controller Java Proxy
  • IBM Cognos Controller User Manager
  • IBM Cognos FAP Service

12. If you have a distributed environment, repeat these steps for all remaining IBM Cognos Controller servers.

13. Start the Internet Information Services (IIE) Manager (the Default Web Site).

14. Start the components Services IBMCOGNOSCONTROLLER.
