Abstract

Fix Pack 1 includes updates to Cognos Business Intelligence 10.1.0 and an optional update to enable support for Dynamic Query Relational over OLAP models with Netezza 6.

Download Description

This fix pack provides important product corrections on Cognos 10.1.0 Business Intelligence products and should be applied to all installations.

A supplemental optional download is available to enable Dynamic Query Mode usage against Netezza 6 data sources. This should only be applied after applying Fix Pack 1 to all installations and should be applied to all instances where the Cognos Report Server is being used as part of the Cognos Business Intelligence package.

Prerequisites

The 10.1.0 version of the product must already be installed. Updates in the fix pack are applied to the existing product installations. Fix Pack 1 must be installed before you install the Netezza updater.

If you have installed an interim fix, you may have specialized instructions to follow before you install this fix pack. They are provided in Technote 1499328.

Installation Instructions

To Download a Fix Pack

  1. Review the fix pack prerequisites.
  2. Download the appropriate compressed tar file using the links in the Download Package section.
Some browsers might change the downloaded file type from .tar.gz to a file type not recognized by the operating system. To correct this, change the file type back to .tar.gz. Use of Download Director will prevent inadvertent renaming of files at download.

To Install a Fix Pack on Linux or UNIX
  1. Copy the fix pack to the appropriate operating system.
  2. Change to the directory where you have downloaded the fix pack installation image.
  3. Enter the following command: gunzip <filename> .tar.gz | tar xvf –
  4. If you want to see the version of a component before you install it, unpack the tar file to disk, or read the table of contents of the tar file.
  5. Follow the Installation instructions in Chapter 7 of the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Installation and Configuration Guide.
  6. Apply the fix pack to all installations.
Note: GNU Zip can be obtained from www.gzip.org and GNU tar can be obtained from www.gnu.org/software/tar .

To Install a Fix Pack on Windows
  1. Change to the directory where you have downloaded the fix pack.
  2. Using your file compress and decompress utility, decompress the .tar.gz file. If you are using WinZip, select the option "use folder names".
  3. If you want to see the version of a component before you install it, unpack the tar file to disk, or read the table of contents of the tar file.
  4. Follow the Installation instructions in Chapter 7 of the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Installation and Configuration Guide.
  5. Apply the fix pack to all installations.

Additional steps when Mobile FP1 is installed ahead of BI FP1
When Mobile FP1 has been installed first, and upon completion of the BI FP1 installation, additional steps are required to activate Mobile FP1 with BI FP1.
  1. The BI administrator stops Cognos Configuration services on the server.
  2. The Mobile administrator instructs Mobile users to clear the cache on their mobile device.
  3. For each gateway, the BI administrator uses the server command line and goes to ..\IBM\cognos\<install folder>\bin\mobile
  4. The BI administrator runs mobilelaunch.bat -install if on Windows; or, runs mobilelaunch.sh -install if on UNIX.
  5. The BI administrator restarts Cognos Configuration services.
  6. The Mobile administrator instructs Mobile users to enter http://server:port/alias on their mobile device.

Download Package

Apply FP1 to BI Server before you apply the FP1 updater for the following available products:
Cognos Mobile
Cognos Statistics
Cognos for Microsoft Office
Cognos Metrics
Cognos Real-time Monitoring

Apply FP1 to BI Server before you apply the Netezza updater. There are two ways to download.

  1. Clicking on the HTTP link will permit you to select which updater you need. You can download FP1 alone if you don't want Dynamic Query for Netezza, or you can download the Netezza updater alone if you have already applied FP1. The link will bring you to the Download Options dialog. Change the default from Download Director to HTTP before you continue.
  2. Clicking on the FC link will permit you to use Download Director, thereby automatically downloading both updater files.
