IBM Sametime Unified Telephony Connect 8.5.2
This document describes how to download the complete IBM Sametime Unified Telephony 8.5.2 product using the Passport Advantage Online Web site.
IBM Sametime Unified Telephony software is an add-on offering to IBM Sametime Standard or IBM Sametime Advanced software. The software is designed to help users more easily access and manage telephone communications directly inside the Sametime or IBM Lotus Notes client with an appropriate Sametime license or in the context of another business application. The software middleware layer helps simplify connecting into multiple PBX systems along with audio and video conferencing systems.
With Sametime Unified Telephony, users are assigned one callable number -- their unified number. Users can set their locations and preferred phone devices for making and receiving calls made to that number. Users can also choose to use their computers as phone devices, using the built in microphone and speakers, and Sametime Unified Telephony. Within the Sametime client, colleagues can see a user’s Sametime status, and also the user’s phone status from Sametime Unified Telephony.
The Sametime Unified Telephony software includes the full set of user and server capabilities. Users are licensed for two components: Sametime Unified Telephony Call and Sametime Unified Telephony Connect. Sametime Unified Telephony Call co-requisites Sametime Unified Telephony Connect software. There are several key components and capabilities for each offering:
- The IBM Sametime Unified Telephony Connect offering is the Telephony Control Server (TCS), which manages the connections to one or many Private Branch Exchange [PBX] System(s). Refer to the Sametime Unified Telephony Connect download document.
- The IBM Sametime Unified Telephony Call offering is the Telephony Application Server (TAS), which delivers the user capabilities including Click-to-call, Click-to-Conference, Embedded softphone and visual Call Window, Telephony presence, and Incoming Call Management.
