Space requirements - Windows, AIX, Linux, Solaris

  • RAM - 512 MB or more is recommended
  • Disk space - 1.5 GB or more is recommended
  • Disk swap space - 2 times physical RAM installed (Windows, AIX, Linux); 3 times physical RAM installed (Solaris)

Space requirements - IBM i

  • RAM - 512 MB or more is recommended
  • Disk space - 2 GB or more is recommended

Space requirements - Linux on System z

  • RAM - 2 GB or more is recommended
  • Disk space - 2.5 GB or more is recommended

Downloading and assembling the product

  1. Download all of the parts that you need, both required and optional.
  2. Unpack each of the parts into a single temporary directory on your system.
  3. Follow the instructions in the Quick Start Guide to install the product.

    Note: The IBM i operating system only runs on 64-bit hardware, and has been enabled for 64-bit for a long time.  It is a virtual machine architecture which supports both 128-bit and 64-bit pointers.  All software products that run on IBM i (i5/OS) have 64-bit addressing capabilities.
