Abstract

This document describes how to download and install IBM Web Interface for Content Management (IBM WEBi), Version 1 Release 0 Modification 4 Fix Pack 2.

Download Description

IBM WEBi is a Web client that enables users to work with content from multiple content servers. IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 2 works with IBM Content Manager Enterprise Edition content servers and IBM Content Manager OnDemand content servers. IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 2 is also able to search across multiple IBM Content Manager servers, multiple IBM Content Manager OnDemand servers, or a combination of servers by using IBM Content Integrator.

Important: You can have only one instance of IBM WEBi on your system unless you are using WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment in a clustered environment.

About the fix pack

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 2 includes changes for APARs IO12229, IO12287, IO12308, IO12310, IO12441, IO12457, IO12532, IO12554, IO12761, and IO13037

If you are affected by any of the APARs that are contained in this fix pack, apply this fix pack to IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4.

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 2 also includes the following changes to IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 behavior. (These changes were also included in IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1.)

Changes to SSO environments

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 includes a change to the behavior of the Change Password button for environments where single sign-on (SSO) is configured. In IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1, if SSO is configured for an IBM Content Manager server, the Change Password button is not displayed when the user is logged in. The behavior was changed because the password is not changed on the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server when SSO is enabled.

Changes to message customization

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 1 supports the Java 1.6.0_17 browser plug-in, which requires that all the JAR files that are used by a signed applet also be signed. Because the applets that are provided with IBM WEBi must be signed, the message file, WCAppletMessages.properties, that is included in the appletMessages.jar file cannot be customized.

Space requirements

To download and install IBM WEBi, you must allocate the following resources:

Prerequisites

The prerequisites for IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4.2 are listed in the "Hardware and software prerequisites for IBM Web Interface for Content Management V1.0.4.2 and V1.0.4.3" document.

Configuring connections to content servers

Important: If you have already configured a connection to a content server, you cannot modify the connection to the content server during this installation. You must use the configuration tool to modify the connection after the installation is complete.

When you install IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 2, you can configure connections only to new types of content servers. For example, if you have already configured a connection to an IBM Content Manager OnDemand server during a previous installation, you can configure a connection to an IBM Content Manager server, but you cannot add a connection to a new IBM Content Manager OnDemand server or modify an existing connection to an IBM Content Manager OnDemand server. However, you can configure the connection to the new content server type only if you install of the prerequisite software.

Tip: If you want to create a connection to a new type of server, and IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 2 is already installed, you can run the installation program for IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 2 again to create the connection.

Installing the fix pack

This fix pack is installed as an update to IBM WEBi. You can install the update by running the installation program or by running a silent installation.

Restrictions: When you update IBM WEBi, the following restrictions apply:

Problems Solved

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 2 APARs

The following section describes all the APARs fixed in IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4 Fix Pack 2.

To search for detailed information about an APAR, enter the APAR number in the Search field at the top of the page or click on the links below. If a link does not work, the details of the APAR are not available through the product Support Portal.

APAR IO12229: Undisclosed security violation

Problem description

Security scanning revealed an undisclosed security violation.

Resolution

The security violations that were identified by the security scan have been fixed in IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4.2.

APAR IO12287: The applet Aviewer does not display some documents as clearly as other client applications

Problem description

The IBM WEBi applet viewr does not display TIFF documents with a resolution of 100dpi as clearly as the Client for Windows or the eClient.

Previous versions of IBM WEBi use a lower resolution than the Client for Windows or the eClient.

Resolution

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4.2 displays TIFF documents at 100dpi.

APAR IO12308: The Previous and Next buttons do not move to the top of the previous or next page

Problem description

When you click Previous or Next in the applet viewer, the viewer displays the previous page or next page at the same location as the current page.

For example, if you click Previous when you are viewing the middle of a page, the applet viewer moves to the middle of the previous page.

Resolution

This feature is working as designed. However, you can modify the IBM WEBi viewing services files to ensure that the Previous button and the Next button always move to the top of the page.

By default, this feature is disabled to keep the behavior consistent with previous versions of IBM WEBi.

To modify the viewing services files, change the value of the PageToTop paramater to true in the WCViewerApplet_properties.jsp file and the WCViewerAppletOD_properties.jsp file of the deployed application:

PageToTop=true

The WCViewerApplet_properties.jsp file and the WCViewerAppletOD_properties.jsp file are located in the /wcappservices.ear/wcviewingservices.war/applets/ directory of the deployed application.

Save your changes to the files and run the WEBiconfig update-files script.

For more information about running the configuration script, see Updating your IBM WEBi configuration in the information center.

APAR IO12310: If you close the applet viewer when a document is in the print queue, the print job is canceled

Problem description

If you print a document from the applet viewer and open another document before the first document is printed and then close the viewer window, the print job is cancelled.

The applet viewer prompts you whether or not you want to cancel the print job. However, no matter what you click, the print job is cancelled. If you want your document to print, you must wait for the print job to complete before taking any action.

In addition, you cannot complete any other tasks in the applet viewer until the dialog closes.

Resolution

In IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4.2, if you close the applet viewer when there is a document in the print queue, the applet viewer displays the following prompt:

You have one or more documents in a print queue. If you leave this page, the documents will not be printed.

If you click OK, the applet viewer closes and your print job is cancelled.

If you click Cancel, the applet viewer stays open and your print job finishes.

APAR IO12441: IBM WEBi does not display a useful error message when a Content Manager EE user ID is locked

Problem description

IBM Content Manager Enterprise Edition systems only.

If a user's ID is locked on a Content Manager EE server, the error message that is displayed in IBM WEBi does not accurately explain why the user cannot log in.

Resolution

In IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4.2, you can modify the error message that is displayed in IBM WEBi so that it includes the error that occurs on the Content Manager EE server.

Edit the following message in ApplicationResources_nl.properties, where nl is the language code for the help files:

error.fatal=An error occurred.

Change the message to:

error.fatal=An error occurred. [{0}]

Adding [{0}] to the end of the message enables IBM WEBi to display the error message that occurred on the Content Manager EE server.

Save your changes to the ApplicationResources_nl.properties and run the WEBiconfig update-files script.

For more information about running the configuration script, see Updating your IBM WEBi configuration in the information center.

APAR IO12457: IBM WEBi does not display annotations with multiple lines correctly

Problem description

IBM Content Manager Enterprise Edition systems only.

If an annotation is created in the Client for Windows and has multiple lines, you see one of the following behaviors:

  • On AIX, only the first line of the annotation is displayed. The rest of the annotation is truncated.
  • On Windows, the text is displayed on a single line. If the text does not fit on a single line, the rest of the text is truncated.

Resolution

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4.2 can display annotations with multiple lines.

APAR IO12532: Searches fail when wc_action is the first parameter in a custom URL

Problem description

If you create a URL to open IBM WEBi from a custom application and specify wc_action=search as the first parameter in the URL, the search fails.

However, the search succeeds if the wc_action parameter is the last parameter in the URL.

Resolution

In IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4.2, the wc_action parameter can be used in any position in a customer URL.

APAR IO12554: IBM WEBi cannot display TIFF files larger than 1 MB

Problem description

IBM Content Manager OnDemand systems only.

When IBM WEBi retrieves a TIFF file larger than 1 MB, the size of the file is calculated incorrectly, which prevents IBM WEBi from displaying the file.

Resolution

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4.2 can display TIFF files that are larger than 1 MB.

APAR IO12761: Annotations are misplaced or incorrectly sized on some TIFF documents

Problem description

IBM Content Manager Enterprise Edition systems only.

Highlighting and sticky note annotations that are created in the Client for Windows might render in the wrong location or with a different size in the eClient or in the IBM WEBi applet viewer.

This issue occurs for the following types of TIFF documents:

  • TIFF documents with a large endian byte order
  • TIFF documents with a little endian byte order
  • TIFF documents with a resolution that is specified in centimeters
  • TIFF documents with an unspecified resolution

Resolution

Changes were made to the IBM Information Integrator for Content viewer toolkit and to IBM WEBi to resolve this problem.

You must install IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4.2 and IBM Content Manager Enterprise Edition Version 8.4.2.202, including IBM Information Integrator for Content Version 8.4.2.205_84202tf, to render these annotations correctly.

However, this fix causes incompatibility between the behavior of IBM WEBi and eClient for annotations in these TIFF documents. If you use both IBM WEBi and eClient, you can modify the IBM WEBi viewing services files so that:

  • IBM WEBi can display annotations created in eClient
  • eClient can display annotations created in IBM WEBi

Important: If you modify the IBM WEBi viewing services files, the behavior of IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4.2 is not compatible with previous versions of IBM WEBi.

To modify the viewing services files, uncomment the ENGINE_useMSTechAnnotationPosition parameter in the WCViewerApplet_properties.jsp file of the deployed application:

# This provides compatibility for annotation positioning with
# eClient.
# It is off by default for compatibility with previous WEBi releases
# (The incompatibility impacts TIFF documents that have no
# resolution, are using centimeters for resolution units, or are
# little endian format.
# The incompatibility results in annotations created in eClient on
# these documents to be mispositioned when
# viewed in WEBi.)
# ENGINE_useMSTechAnnotationPosition=true

The WCViewerApplet_properties.jsp file is located in the /wcappservices.ear/wcviewingservices.war/applets/ directory of the deployed application.

Save your changes to the WCViewerApplet_properties.jsp file and run the WEBiconfig update-files script.

For more information about running the configuration script, see Updating your IBM WEBi configuration in the information center.

APAR IO13037: The Monarch RMS plug-in is available when multiple documents are selected

Problem description

If you configure an IBM WEBi plug-in, such as the Monarch RMS plug-in, to be unavailable when more than one document is selected, the plug-in is still available when multiple documents are selected.

This problem occurs because IBM WEBi always interprets the value of the isMultiDoc method as true.

Resolution

IBM WEBi Version 1.0.4.2 interprets the method correctly.
