Abstract

The SupportPac enables WebSphere Operational Decision Management (WODM) users to leverage predictive analytics to create better business rules at design time.

Download Description

The SupportPac enables WebSphere Operational Decision Management users to leverage predictive analytics to create better business rules at design time, as well as to improve operational decisions made at runtime.

The SupportPac enables WebSphere Operational Decision Management users to:

• Import a decision tree model via PMML and generate an Operational Decision Management decision tree at design time.
• Reference predictive scores within business rules, and obtain those scores at runtime from the SPSS Scoring Service.

The PMML Decision Tree Model Import feature provides the ability to automatically generate an Operational Decision Management Decision Tree artifact from a decision tree model created in a predictive modelling tool like IBM SPSS Modeler, using the Predictive Model Markup Language (PMML). Once the decision tree has been generated it can be modified, orchestrated and deployed like any other Operational Decision Management Decision Tree artifact. Using this feature, predictive insights extracted from historical data can be brought to bear during the business rule authoring process through the creation of new business rules or the improvement of existing business rules.

The SPSS Scoring Service invocation feature provides the ability to define business rules that reference predictive scores, and to obtain those scores at runtime through invocation of the IBM SPSS Scoring Service. The Scoring Service is part of the IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services (C&DS) product, which provides a platform for collaboration, management and deployment of SPSS statistical and predictive models. Through its Scoring Service, C&DS can deploy predictive models whose scores can be accessed within Operational Decision Management using web service calls. Using this feature, business rules can leverage predictive insights at runtime, without having to have visibility into or understanding of the internals of any given predictive model in order to use the results of the model’s execution (the score).

Skill Level Required
Intermediate programming skills and general knowledge of WebSphere Operational Decision Management. To use the SPSS Scoring Service Invocation feature, general knowledge of IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services is also required.
