PK93269 resolves the following problem:

ERROR DESCRIPTION:
Applications containing JAX-RPC Web services or JAX-WS Web services with WSDL may experience performance degradation during deployment on WebSphere Application Server V7.0.

IBM WebSphere Application Server V7.0 administrators and deployers of Web Services applications with WSDLs.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Web Services application deployment may experience performance degradation.

RECOMMENDATION:
Install a fixpack containing this APAR

Applications containing JAX-RPC Web services or JAX-WS Web services with WSDL may experience performance degradation during deployment on WebSphere Application Server V7.0.

PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
Prior to this APAR, the web services runtime was attempting to read and parse WSDL for each application during deployment while gathering information on JAX-WS and JAX-RPC web services. This information may or may not be used later by the runtime.

The code has been corrected to only read and parse WSDL as needed. This allows deployment to proceed at a faster rate. After applying the fix, test runs show that deployment for an application may be as much as 30% faster than deployment of the same application on 7.0.0.5, dependent on the size and complexity of the application.

It is recommended that customers who are experiencing performance degradation during application deployment first move to fix pack 7.0.0.5 to try to resolve the problem. Customers may also want to consider other 7.0.0.7 APARs associated with fixing slow application deployment: PK89273, PK91237, and PK94209.
