Sun Microsystems Java Runtime Environment (JRE)

• JRE version 1.4.x or higher must be installed for IBM Cognos 8 Versions
• JRE version 1.5.x or higher must be installed for IBM Cognos 10 Versions

Sun Microsystems Java must be in the system paths

PLEASE NOTE:

• We now support Microsoft Windows 7 for Cognos10.x
• To run diagnostic on Windows 2008 please download:
  • System Overview (Win 2008) for IBM Cognos BI 8.x
  • SystemOverview for IBM Cognos BI 10.x
• The download for z/OS is only valid for IBM Cognos BI version 8.4.1

To Run Diagnostic do one of the following steps:


For Microsoft Windows:

Regular Mode:

• From a Microsoft Windows DOS command, run the batch file.
  • This is the recommended way, as progress will appear in the command window.
• Run the jar file
  • This will run in the background, no progress will appear, only the result once the diagnostic has been completed.

Silent Mode:
• From a Microsoft Windows DOS command, run the batch file with --silent parameter and optionally output results location, for example:
  • java -jar IBM_SystemOverview.jar --silent [--output <output location>]

For UNIX/Linux:

Regular Mode:

• X Windows System Display is required to provide Graphical User Interface (GUI) protocol
• Download the tar file and uncompress all the files using the command:
  • tar -xpf <FileName>.tar
• To run the diagnostic type one of the following steps:
  • UNIX: execute_<FileName>.sh
  • Windows: java -jar <FileName>.jar
Silent Mode:

• execute the jar file with --silent parameter and optionally output results location, for example:
  • java -jar IBM_SystemOverview.jar --silent [--output <output location>]

For z/OS:

• X Windows System Display is required to provide Graphical User Interface (GUI) protocol
• Download the tar file and uncompress all the files to the same directory using the command:
  • tar -xpf <FileName>.tar
• To run the diagnostic type one of the following steps:
  • source execute_<FileName>.sh
