Abstract
You can use IBM Update Installer V7.0.0.27 for WebSphere Software to install maintenance and updates for IBM WebSphere Application Server V7.0, V6.1 and V6.0.2.21 onwards.

IBM Update Installer for WebSphere Software is provided for the following:
Components:
- Application Server
- Feature Packs

- AIX 6.1
- AIX 5.3
- AIX 5.2
Supported WebSphere Application Server Fix Packs:
Update Installer V7.0 is backwards compatible. A single instance of the V7.0 Update Installer can now apply maintenance and updates to IBM WebSphere Application Server V7.0.0.x, V6.1.0.x and any newer maintenance from IBM WebSphere Application Server V6.0.2.21 onward.
Features
The latest Update Installer V7.0.0.27 was released on Jan 21, 2013. It has the following functionality:
- A GUI and a command-line Update Installer
- Installation and removal of individual and/or multiple code updates
- Logging, recovery features and prerequisite handling
- Compatibility with previous releases in most cases

Supported platforms for Update Installer V7.0, V6.1 and V6.0.2
The version 7.0 Update Installer works with all V6.1 platforms and most V6.0.2 platforms except where noted in the table of V6.0.2 platforms.
There are no changes to the supported platforms with the Update Installer shipped within the same version. For example, the V6.1 Update Installer will work with any supported platform with V6.1 release. Similarly, the V6.0.2 Update Installer will work with any supported platform with V6.0.2 release.

Note: If the version 7.0 Update Installer is not available for your application, then continue to use the V6.1 or V6.0.2 Update Installer as necessary. Installation Instructions
- Ensure that you have stopped all WebSphere Application Server and related processes. The product to be updated must not be running while you apply maintenance.
- Download the most recent Update Installer package that matches your platform from the Download package section of this page.
- Extract the downloaded Update Installer package (zip or tar file) to a temporary directory.
- Navigate to the UpdateInstaller subdirectory.
- Use the installation wizard to install the Update Installer by running the install or install.exe executable.
- On Windows systems, run the command install.exe by double-clicking on the icon, or running it directly from a command prompt.
- On UNIX-based systems, run the command ./install to launch the Wizard interface.
- On Windows systems, run the command install.exe by double-clicking on the icon, or running it directly from a command prompt.
