The behavior for the J2C migration feature has changed:
Old behavior: When using the J2C Migration wizard, if your workspace does not already contain a corresponding connector project, then a corresponding connector project is imported and the target server for the project is set to WebSphere Application Server, Version 6.1. Otherwise, the corresponding connector project already in your workspace is used for J2C migration.

New behavior: When using the J2C Migration wizard, if your workspace does not already contain a corresponding connector project, then a corresponding connector project is imported and the target server for the project is set to WebSphere Application Server, Version 5.1. Otherwise, if your workspace already contains the corresponding connector project:
        • If the target server for the connector project is WebSphere Application Server, Version 5.1, then it will be used for J2C migration.
        • If the corresponding connector project in your workspace is does not have its target server set to WebSphere Application Server, Version 5.1, then a new connector project is created that has its target server set to WebSphere Application Server, Version 5.1 and is named following the convention <old name>_51, where <old name> is the name of the connector project already in your workspace.

User assistance: new AJAX portlet sample
A new portlet showcasing the AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) technology has been added to the portlet technology samples in the Samples Gallery.

        12. Click Check for new updates and extensions and select the latest version of the product (7.0.0.4).
        13. Follow the on-screen instructions in the Install Packages wizard to complete the installation. Note that you should not choose a Shared Resources directory or an Installation Location in the Program Files directory (C:\Program Files).

Starting Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software, Version 7.0.0.4 on a Windows Vista computer

If the installation location or Shared Resources directory for Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software is in a directory in the path C:\Program Files, then you must run Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software as the administrator. To run as administrator, right-click the program shortcut and click Run as administrator.

On Windows Vista, the Program Files directory is usually virtualized in order to allow users who are not running as the administrator to have write access to this protected directory. However, the virtualization workaround is not compatible with Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software.

If you selected an installation location or Shared Resources directory in the path C:\Program Files and you do not want to require running Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software as administrator, complete one of the following steps:

        • If you selected an installation location in a directory in the path C:\Program Files, then reinstall Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software (and any other programs sharing the same installation location) and select an installation location that is not in the path C:\Program Files.
        • If you selected a shared resources directory in the path C:\Program Files, then reinstall Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software and all Rational Software Development Platform product (regardless of their installation location) and select a Shared Resources directory and installation locations that are not in the path C:\Program Files.

For more information on running Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software on Windows Vista, refer to the technote at: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21257842

      Uninstalling the fix pack

If you updated a previously installed version to version 7.0.0.4, you can revert to the previous version by using the rollback feature of Installation Manager. For instructions on uninstalling the product, see the Installation Guide.

The rollback feature uninstalls the updated resources and reinstalls the resources from the previous version. You can only roll back one version level at a time.

When you roll back to an earlier version of a package, it will be restored with same features that were associated with that version; any features that you added after upgrading to version 7.0.0.4 by using the Modify Packages wizard will be removed, and any features that you removed will be restored.

During the rollback process, Installation Manager must access files from the earlier version of the package. By default, these files are stored on your system when you install a package. If you changed the default setting or deleted the files by using the Remove Stored Files option on the Roll Back preferences page (File > Preferences > Rollback Files), Installation Manager will require access to your installation repository or media. If you installed the product from a repository, you must have listed in your Preferences (File > Preferences > Repositories) the repository from which you installed the previous version of the product.
