Download Description

This SupportPac provides details of MQConnect for Unisys A-Series/Clearpath NX, an offering developed by Peter Mullins Consultancy Ltd. and marketed and supported by MSS International.

The fact that this product is described here does not imply that IBM recommends or endorses it. You should use your own judgement in deciding whether to use it.

Possible Uses
MQConnect provides Unisys A-Series/Clearpath NX applications the ability to fully participate in the message driven processing world of MQSeries. The MQSeries products implement a common application program interface (the message queue interface, MQI) on all supported platforms. MQConnect supports the MQI on Unisys A-Series/Clearpath NX and enables interoperation with other members of the MQSeries family. MQConnect needs to be connected to any MQSeries server that supports client channels. For ClearPath systems, the in-built Intel Server can be used to host the MQSeries for Windows NT server, or for more scaleable solutions an MVS, AS/400 or Unix server may be chosen.

MQConnect is dynamically linked to the user application program. Any A-Series/Clearpath NX programming language that supports library linkage may be used. This includes ALGOL, COBOL and 'C'. Multiple application programs can access MQConnect simultaneously, and to achieve high through-puts, multiple copies of an application program may be initiated.

A sample NOF program is provided, which can be customised to allow existing LINC applications to send and receive MQSeries messages.

Also available from the same supplier is COMSBridge/MQ. This provides an interface between legacy applications running under COMS (the Unisys TP Monitor), and MQSeries. On-line applications using the standard communications verbs (SEND, RECEIVE, ENABLE, DISABLE) may send and receive messages to and from MQSeries Queue Managers. The standard COMS configuration utility is used to establish the required routing to the on-line applications using windows, agendas and transaction codes.

Skill Level Required
Users should be familiar with the IBM MQSeries product family in general and have particular skills on the Unisys A-Series/Clearpath NX platform.
