Easy Install "Content Manager failed to connect to the content store"

Troubleshooting


Problem

After installing Cognos Analytics "Easy install" option, attempting to start the services fails with below error. [Content Manager database connection] [ ERROR ] The database connection failed. [ ERROR ] Content Manager failed to connect to the content store. The connection string is "jdbc:db2://dolos:9080/csdb:retrieveMessagesFromServerOnGetMessage=true;fullyMaterializeLobData=false;". The error encountered is: "[jcc][t4][2019][11255][4.22.29] Connection authorization failure occurred. Reason: Authentication failed because of connectivity restrictions enforced by the security plug-in. ERRORCODE=-4214, SQLSTATE=28000"

Resolving The Problem

Reset the informix user password and change the informix service account from local system to the informix user.
Then open Cognos Configuration with "Run as Administrator" and update the informix username and password in the content store.

To change the Informix user password
1. Go to Computer Management > Local Users and groups > Users > select Informix
2. Select More Actions under Informix in the right hand side panel > set password
3. Click Proceed and enter new password.

To change the Service account to the informix user
1. Go to Services
2. Find "Informix IDS - olcognoscm" and right click > Properties > Logon
3. Under "Log on as:", select "This account" and browse to the informix user.
