Troubleshooting
Problem
When your working hours start time is 7AM and the end time is 3PM, the total of shift equals to eight hours, your modify work dates start time is 9AM and the end time is 5PM with the reason code being VACATION, the Assignment Manager is displaying the full work hours as allocated which is incorrect.
Diagnosing The Problem
To reproduce the problem:
1) Log in to Maximo as MAXADMIN.
2) Navigate to the People application and filter for ALLEN.
3) From More Actions, Modify Person Availability.
4) Highlight the work dates on the 23/10/2017
Start Time = 7AM and End Time = 3PM, Total of Shift equal = 8 hours
5) Under Modify Work Dates section, click on New Row.
6) Provide the Modify Work Date for 23/10/2017
Start Time = 9AM and End Time = 5PM select Vacation in Reason Code.
7) Click OK and the record will be saved.
8) Navigate to the Assignment Manager.
9) Under Labor List section, filter for ALLEN.
You can see on the 23/10/2017 the hours displayed for Rebecca Allen is the total shift hours of 8 hours.
PROBLEM: The hours displayed should be the total availability hours for that person which should 2 hours from 7AM until 9AM and after that she is on a vacation.
This functionality works correctly if you modify the time in the vacation work dates as follows (this is done in step 5):
Start Time = 9AM and End Time = 3PM select Vacation in Reason Code. Then in Assignment Manager, Maximo will correctly display the total availability 2 hours for Rebecca from 7AM until 9AM and then vacation.
Resolving The Problem
The non-work component of modavail (personal, sick, vacation) is designed to be an overlay onto working time, effectively reducing working hours.
Conversely, the actual work time component is designed to add more working hours outside of the work period, effectively adding working
hours.
The example, where the work period is 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and you add a vacation modavail of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM doesn't make sense, the
3-5 part of it isn't working time to begin with. If you follow the overlay guidance the modavail would be 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and it all works - 2 hours of working time that day.
