MustGather: Tracing Health Management in Liberty Profile ND

Technote (troubleshooting)

What information, logs, and traces, should I gather and send to IBM Support to troubleshoot a problem with the Health Management feature for Liberty Profile ND?

Liberty Profile ND has a feature called Health Management. This feature allows a user to configure health conditions that are monitored in an environment and the health actions to take if these conditions are met

If you are having problems with the Health Management feature, please gather this information and send it to IBM support.

Resolving the problem

1) What is your exact level of IBM Liberty Profile ND? On what platform?

2) Please describe the health action or condition that is causing the problem and the name of the target resource. Also, what is the time frame that the problem occurred?

3) Enable tracing on the collective controller server. Add the following line to the server.xml of the controller:

<logging traceSpecification="*=info=enabled:HealthManager=all:

4) Enable tracing on the member server. Add the following line to the server.xml of the member:

<logging traceSpecification="**=all:**=all:*=event=enabled:*=all:**=all=enabled:*=all=enabled"/>

5) Recreate the issue with the new traces enabled. While the issue is happening, take a server dump of both the controller server and member server.

Generating a Liberty server dump from the command line

6) Once recreated, provide to IBM support the configuration and log files of the Liberty collective controller server and member server:

-a zip of the entire logs directory and subdirectories
-the zip from the server dump
