Auto deployment of IBM Spectrum Protect Linux client fails with ANS4273E

Problem(Abstract)

ANS4273E occurs during auto deployment of IBM Spectrum Protect Linux client

Symptom

In the client trace file you may see the following :

dsmtrace.cpp ( 146):DeployMgr psupdatemgr.cpp(938):Terminating update manager. JBB is installed.

In the auto deployment setup.log we see that the journal based client file-set is installed:

BRT 2017: issuing command: rpm -q TIVsm-JBB
BRT 2017: Found TIVsm-JBB-7.1.1-0.x86_64

In the auto deployment update manager log we see the following message:

ANS4200I x86_64, DEPLOY_TSMCLIENT_LINUX_8102: The Deployment Manager process was started successfully. Deployment Manager Version Information: Deployment Manager Version 1, Release 2, Level 0.0 110307A

ANS4273E The deployment manager detected a journal based backup (JBB) client on the workstation where it needs to deploy the Backup-Archive Ciient.07/25/17 14:56:43 ANS4298E x86_64, DEPLOY_TSMCLIENT_LINUX_8102: The client deployment was cancelled. The previous event causing the cancellation is: 4273.


Cause

Auto deployment of Linux client is not supported if journal or space management (HSM) file sets are installed

Environment

This problem was reported on Linux system with journal backup client installed. This rule also applies if IBM Spectrum Protect Space Management ( HSM) client is installed.

Resolving the problem

According to the following messages manual link, auto deployment is not supported for clients with the journal based client installed. It says the following:


ANS4273E The deployment manager detected a journal based backup (JBB) client on the workstation where it needs to deploy the backup-archive client.

Explanation

An attempt was made to deploy the backup-archive client to a workstation that already has the JBB client installed. On some platforms, the backup-archive client cannot be deployed to a workstation that has the JBB client installed.

User response

Uninstall the JBB client and reschedule the backup-archive client deployment.

To resolve the problem, uninstall the journal based client and then run the autodeploy schedule again. After deployment completes, you can reinstall the journal based client
