Problem

How to Remove Older Version of Java from your Windows Computer

Resolving The Problem

If using Windows 8 or 8.1

  • In order to download Java, you must be in Desktop mode
  • Hold down the Windows key + [D] on your keyboard
  • Once in Desktop mode, hold down the Windows Key +[X] to open the Quick Link menu
  • Click on the Control Panel
  • Select one of the following menus listed in your control panel:Add or Remove Programs
  • Programs and Features
  • Un-install or Change a Program
  • Please locate anything that is Java related, select it and choose the option to Un- install or Remove
  • Once Java has been removed, you may close the Control Panel
Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 10

  • Click on the Start button on the lower left-hand corner of your screen
  • Click on Control Panel
  • Select one of the following menus listed in your control panel:
  • Add or Remove Programs
  • Programs and Features
  • Un-install or Change a Program
  • Please locate anything that is Java related, select it and choose the option to Un- install or Remove
  • Once Java has been removed, you may close the Control Panel
