Server V7.1.7 upgrade fails because of the readme file

Problem(Abstract)

The IBM Spectrum Protect Server version 7.1.7 upgrade is failing because it cannot extract the readme file.

Symptom

The Tivoli Storage Manager Server V7.1.7 upgrade fails with the following error:


    Error during "install" phase:
    Failed to extract zip com.tivoli.dsm.server.content.readme
    1.0.0.ae068f5209c94b63b9a5b66f49ea8790. File D:\Program
    Files\Tivoli\TSM\README.htm already exists.

Cause

The README.htm file already exists.

Diagnosing the problem

Check the installation package and verify that the readme file exists here:

com.tivoli.dsm.server.content.readme_1.0.0.ae068f5209c94b63b9a5b66f49ea8790 exists under ..\repository\native directory.


Resolving the problem

Complete the following steps:

  1. Delete the existing 'D:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\README.htm' file.
    • Rename the following folders:
    • D:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\db2tmp
    • D:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\server_install
    • D:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\_unist
  2. Re-run the upgrade.
