Question

After a client installation, how can one tell if IBM Debug for z Systems was installed, or IBM Developer for z Systems?

Cause

In version 14, the installation of IBM Developer for z Systems includes the components for IBM Debug for z Systems.

Answer

Version 14.0.0 - 14.0.0.4

For versions 14.0.0 to 14.0.0.4, to determine if only IBM Debug for z Systems components were installed, click File > View Installed Package on Installation Manager to view the installed components. The Installation is for IBM Debug for z Systems when only the following components appear:

  • Remote Debug and Line-level Code Coverage for IBM z/OS Debugger
  • Debug Tool Plugins

Version 14.0.0.4 iFix 1 and later

As of version 14.0.0.4 iFix 1 and later, to tell if only IBM Debug for z Systems was installed, use one of the following ways:

  • The shortcut is named IBM Debug for z Systems:

  • During startup, the IBM Debug for z Systems splash screen appears:

  • Once the workbench is started, the title indicates IBM Debug for z Systems:
  • The About dialog indicates IBM Debug for z Systems:
