Question
There are users that no longer access the Cognos Analytics 11 environment. Their account details still reside in the Content Store but not in the Namespace. How do you remove these users from the Content Store?
Answer
You would need to run a Consistency Check to do this. The following steps are required to make a full backup of the Content Store database and run a Consistency Check to remove the users:
1. Log on to Cognos Analytics 11 as a System Administrator in each available namespace.
2. Navigate to Cognos Administration by clicking on ‘Manage’ followed by ‘Administration console’.
3. Click on the ‘Configuration’ tab.
4. Select ‘Content Administration’ on the left-hand side.
5. Click on the ‘New Content Maintenance’ icon in the top-right side of the page.
6. Select ‘New Consistency Check’.
7. Provide a name for the task and click ‘Next’.
8. Select the ‘Reference to external namespaces’ radio button.
9. Select the ‘All namespaces’ radio button and click ‘Next’.
10. Select ‘Save’ and then ‘Run once’.
11. Select ‘Run Now’.
12. Ensure that the ‘Find and Fix’ radio button is select before finishing.
The Consistency Check compares the Users in the Content Store with the users in the Namespace. If the user does not reside in the Namespace, it removes it from the Content Store.
