As of this release, on Linux only, the multiversion file system (MVFS) is installed through the OS native installer when using IBM Installation Manager. Note that the Configuration panel in the Installation Manager related to the MVFS module is no longer displayed. In the unlikely case that the installation of the MVFS fails, a warning displays at the end of the installation. The installation of the rest of ClearCase completes normally.

Cadence Virtuoso integration enhancements

  • Added new environment variable CCASE_CDS_SIMPLIFIED_MSG. If the environment variable is set to TRUE, the check-in and check-out messages will be logged into the Command Interpreter Window (CIW) in a simplified form.
  • Now, a warning message is displayed in the Cannot CheckIn/Cannot Cancel Checkout dialog box when you accidentally do a check-in or do a check-out of an edited view in the Library Manager. This helps to avoid an override of the changes.
  • While checking in files from the Library Manager or Work Area Manager (WAM) or cellview editors, now you have the option to do the check-in and label simultaneously. To do this, select the Apply Label Post Checkin checkbox on the Check In dialog box and enter the appropriate values in the Label Operations and the Label Options fields.

Changes to commands

Now, the composite and recommended baselines from the public and private VOBs cannot be removed by default when using the rmbl command. When the rmbl command is executed with the [ –public ] argument, only the composite and recommended baselines from the public VOB cannot be removed.

ClearTeam Explorer (CTE)

  • IBM Rational ClearCase ClearTeam Explorer now supports derived objects.
  • For IBM Rational ClearTeam Explorer, the ClearCase Search feature is enabled for Dynamic views. On the ClearCase Search dialog box, use the Checked out resources option to do a search for the checked-out files at the View level only. For more information, see also technote http://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6457901.

Installation

V9.0.1.10

Audited Build Executor

For parallel or distributed builds, clearmake is updated to address a specific scenario related to a build host override with the NOTPARALLEL targets. This change helps to prevent an Audited Build Executor (ABE) reassignment that could result in a stuck build. This update is applicable to override builds, or builds where makefiles or environment variables contain the CCASE_BLD_HOST variable, and the build server host list changes for different targets.

Cadence Virtuoso integration enhancements

  • The WorkArea Manager (WAM) can now recover items with a version as "checkedout but removed" in a dynamic view. As part of this change, Recover checkedout but removed files is now available on the ClearCase menu.
  • In the ClearCase-Cadence integration, if a user cancels a checkout of a version and provides the -keep option, then the _keep file is created irrespective of any changes made to the checked-out file. The _keep backup file is created only if the element is changed and the CCASE_CDS_CANCEL_WITH_KEEP environment variable is set.

Changes to commands

The setcs command now provides an option to update the configuration specification (also referred to as the config spec) separately if invoked with the -nupdate argument without updating the snapshot view. To update the snapshot view, you can use cleartool update. The setcs -nupdate command helps to update the config spec successfully irrespective of existing or non-existing load rules.

Installation

ClearCase® 9.0.1.10 now supports Installation Manager 1.9.x.

New platform support

  • Windows 10 CU 2004
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.2
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.8

All features and changes made available in the 9.0.0.x fix packs are also included in 9.0.1 and later.

V9.0.1.9

Security

Crypt::SSLeay v0.72 is removed from the product due to incompatibility with OpenSSL 1.1.1d.

If you use ratlperl, ccperl, cqperl, SSL/TLS connections, LWP::UserAgent, and Crypt::SSLeay in your own perl scripts, you are affected by this change.

The suggested fix is to stop importing the Crypt::SSLeay SSL implementation module in your perl scripts and letting LWP::Protocol::https default (or explicitly use) to the provided IO::Socket::SSL module.

About upgraded Net::SSLeay to version 1.88, for change history and usage, see http://metacpan.org/release/CHRISN/Net-SSLeay-1.88.

About upgraded IO::Socket::SSL to version 2.066, for change history and usage, see http://metacpan.org/release/SULLR/IO-Socket-SSL-2.066.

If you use ratlperl, ccperl, cqperl, and use either Net::SSLeay or IO::Socket::SSL, then you are affected by these changes . See the corresponding module documentation for interface changes.

Audited Build Executors

For parallel or distributed builds, the Audited Build Executor (ABE) session tracking limits the number of ABEs to be equal to the -J value or the number of build server hosts, whichever is smaller. This update is applicable to override builds, or builds where makefiles or environment variables contain the CCASE_BLD_HOST variable and the build server host list changes for different targets.

ClearTeam Explorer (CTE)

When you use the Add to Source Control option in ClearTeam Explorer (CTE) and select the Include descendant artifacts of the selected directories option, then the Checkout artifacts after adding to source control option is disabled. This update helps to avoid the automatic deletion of files from a folder when you select the Undo Checkout option.

Changes to commands

Clearmake builds now execute correctly with the -v option during the normal clearmake executions. Previously, clearmake builds executed with the -v option used to cause an inadvertent error message even though the build continued successfully (Error: Unable to invoke operation "compare" for manager "text_file_delta": No child processes).

ClearCase on AWS

ClearCase® can run successfully on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud. AWS provides virtual machines and other services that can be used to run ClearCase® servers and clients. For more information, see the article Using ClearCase in AWS.

Cadence Virtuoso integration enhancements

  • With ClearCase Delete, you can now uncatalog a directory, which by default is non-recursive. On the Preference window is an option where you can switch between recursive and non-recursive delete for this function.
  • In the Show File Status dialog, for checkouts, there is now a User-by drop-down to filter checked-out elements by username.
  • When you do a checkin, you must include a comment (to avoid the checkin being rejected). Now there is a default checkin comment that is stored in Preferences. If during checkin a comment is not entered, the default comment "ClearCase Checkin" is used.

Changes to commands

  • In the cleartool command facility, the mkproject subcommand has a new POLICY_DISABLE_FDN_REUSE. Set this policy to prevent the creation of duplicate baselines when a foundation baseline has already been reused in a previous "make baseline" operation and when the baseline that has been reused resides in a PVOB, which is not under the same AdminVOB hierarchy as the PVOB where the new baseline is being created. This requires extensive checking that might slow performance.
  • In the cleartool command facility and the rcleartool command facility, the mkstream subcommand has a new POLICY_DISABLE_FDN_REUSE.

V9.0.1.7

ClearTeam Explorer (CTE) enhancements

In order to display view private artifacts that might be eclipsing versioned resources, go to Window > Preferences > IBM® Rational ClearTeam Explorer > ClearTeam Explorer and select the Decorate eclipsing view private resources in dynamic/automatic views option. This is only relevant to dynamic or automatic views.

Cadence Virtuoso integration enhancements

  • For the Hierarchy Manager, on the Hierarchy tab, Show Items With DM System ‘CCASE’ is replaced with a drop-down box with the following options:
    • All
    • DM System ‘CCASE’
    • DM System not ‘CCASE’
  • For the Configuration Specification editor, on the History browser there is now a column that shows all labels with corresponding version. When you select any version row, the label box gets populated with labels for that version.
  • Now an initial checkin of a design library (a single cellview or cellfile) from the Library Manager or Work Area Manager (WAM) works regardless of the path from where Virtuoso was launched.
  • For the Configuration Specification editor, there is now a Preview Config Specs button that you can use to preview the configuration specification. In addition, you can use the menu bar through File > Preview Config Specs.
  • In the Label Items dialog box, there is now a text field next to the Lock Label check box where you can add extra options related to the lock label, such as '-nusers'.
  • In the Label Items dialog box, the Replace Label option is no longer selected as the default.
  • Only ClearCase® managed cell-views are now displayed in the Hierarchy rule in the Configuration Specification editor.

Dynamic views

When running ClearCase® on Windows, we have fixed an irregularity where within the assigned MVFS drive letter—typically M:—you could specify M:\view\viewtag to access viewtag. However, M:\view does not exist in the file namespace. Inconsistencies in name resolution cause problems with some virus scanning software, therefore this undocumented use of M:\view is no longer supported. UNC names to access and map views, such as "net use * \\view\viewtag" are still supported.

New platform support

  • Windows 10 version 1903 (May 2019 Update)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8

V9.0.1.1

Security

The JRE delivered with this release has new trusted public certificate authorities in the truststore. If you have customized your truststores in previous releases, take the new truststores from this release and reintegrate in your local changes. For information about upgrading to a new release when you configure SSL certificates, see the "Upgrading to a new release" section in technote http://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/541765.

Depending on your operating system, these are the updated truststore file paths. You can compare the updated templates to your versions in the corresponding path names without the .template suffix.

  • UNIX: /var/adm/rational/clearcase/config/cacert.pem.template
  • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\RationalSDLC\ClearCase\config\ccrc\ccrc_ucmcq_key.*.template

ClearTeam Explorer (CTE) enhancements

With UCM, you can now refresh the activity list on a stream during any common dialog box operations (for example, Check Out, Check In, Add to Source Control, Rename, Move, and so on). If any activity is added or deleted after a common dialog box is opened, in the drop-down list for the Select Activity section, select <Refresh…> to refresh the activity list.

Cadence Virtuoso integration enhancements

  • Apply and Remove Label operations is consolidated into a single Label dialog box. You can either choose to apply or remove labels from the selected items. In addition, you can filter cellviews and select from a choice of label options such as locking and unlocking a label type. Both apply and remove operations now present a consolidated label report as well.
  • Fetching the label types now lists them in a sorted order in the Label dialog box.
  • The ClearCase Work Area Manager (WAM) now shows the attached labels on design elements in a newly introduced Label column. Also for the selected element, labels, if any, are listed in the Label list box on the Work Area Manager window.
  • For ClearCase Delete, in addition to the originally selected elements, you can now add more elements such as other libraries, cells, and cellviews; and then all the selected elements can be deleted at the same time.
  • Use the ClearCase Config Spec Editor to set your configuration specification for your workspace. This editor lets designers configure their workspace in terms of libraries, cells, cellviews, and design hierarchies based on provided version selectors.

New platform support

  • WebSphere Application Server / IBM® HTTP Server 8.5.5.12
  • Ubuntu 16.04.2 4.8-HWE on the following platforms:
    • Linux 32-bit (linux_x86) and 64-bit (linux_x86_64)

Recommendation: For the support on ppc64le, during the installation phase, select the Yes, rebuild MVFS using the current kernel source directory option in the IBM® Installation Manager.
  • In 9.0.1.1, linux_x86_64 and linux_ppc64le platforms now use a VOB database on-disk format that is compatible with linux_x86. If you used the 9.0.1 release for VOB storage on either platform, before you upgrade to 9.0.1.1, see compatibility details and instructions for reformatting in technote http://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/562843.

V9.0.1

ClearTeam Explorer (CTE) enhancements

You can now merge into a hijacked file by using the ClearCase® Version Tree view. While merging into a view-selected version, you can merge into the hijacked copy and keep up to date with changes without converting the hijacked file to a checkout.

Cadence Virtuoso integration enhancements

  • Improved performance in operations involving scanning of checked-out elements in ClearCase Work Area Manager (WAM).
  • You can now specify comments during a rename operation.
  • By default, ClearCase Hierarchy Manager (HM) now displays the design hierarchy in a tree view. Tree view representation ensures better performance for large hierarchies. (This view default is set on the Specification tab. If you clear the Show Hierarchy In Tree View check box, the design hierarchy displays in a flat view.)
  • The .oalib, data.dm, and cdsinfo.tag files in unmanaged libraries are now automatically added to source control from the ClearCase Work Area Manager (WAM) and Hierarchy Manager (HM) if the designs (cellviews) in these libraries are being added to source control.
  • For the Cancel Checkout operation, when attempted with the 'keep' option on, cellviews now maintain a view-private copy of the cellview directory.

New platform support

  • Linux 64-bit (linux_x86_64) on the following distributions. For information about the required system packages for ClearCase® version 9.0.1 linux_x86_64, see technote http://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/561207. Changes to commands and APIs

  • The clearmake command now provides insight into where its elapsed time is consumed if invoked with the -d argument. This update is helpful for parallel distributed builds, where the time spent waiting for build hosts, or for more parallelism (audited build executor processes or abes), is presented.
  • To improve performance, in the cleartool command facility, for the lsview subcommand, the output of the -prop argument now prints IP addresses (instead of hostnames). Additionally, the performance of this command is improved by reducing the time spent waiting for responses from offline view hosts.
  • In the rcleartool command facility, the merge subcommand now supports the -insert and -delete arguments.
  • The CM API CcVersion interface has a new doIsAncestorOf method, which checks the ancestor relationship between two versions.
